Commons is a matchwinner for us. First half yesterday we were stuck in 2nd gear and Hibs had probably the better of the play. The goal came about because Commons managed to draw a free kick and then delivered a great cross into a dangerous area.

Also he is far more effective playing on the left hand side for us.

And to suggest he loses weight? Im sure the management team at CP will make sure he is fit enough to play.

He's a qualified chef I read before, I'm in agreement with everyone its only one game relax! when he dips form like Hooper did last season is the only reason He will be dropped for me.

Before I am shot down in flames like the good Doctor :)rolleyes:), I can actually kind of see what he's on about.

I seem to remember a thread somewhere on here by a Nottm Forest fan (I think), who said that the majority of clubs Commons has signed for, he has been extremely impressive to begin with, then becomes 'lazy'.

That's an opinion I cannot agree with, because I don't know too much about it.

Commons was the worst player on the pitch yestday (Celtic's), but it is only the first game and I won't slate him for it.

Also, with the 'weight' issue....I noticed that the yellow kit did nothing for the players figures (especially Commons and Hooper)......don't think the guy is fat though, just looks built like *:50:

A wee bit of over-reaction here from the OP.

I was actually more concerned by Hooper. Commons had mitigating circumstances.

I don't think Commons should be an automatic pick, as he seems to be with the majority of fans. For me, both Maloney and Forrest have looked much sharper than he has been in the games we have played so far and should be in a with a shout of starting ahead of him! Hooper is another one that hasn't impressed me in a single game he has played so far, Stokes was far better than him yesterday, just my opinion though!

Maloney and Forrest wont get anywhere near the goal tally Commons is likely to get. You could clearly see he isnt suited to the right.

I could clearly see he lookedvery lethargic! We are not just talking about 1 game here, we are talking about all the pre season games he has played in, Hooper is the same!

He's naturally heavyset, I don't think there's much weight to lose, he's just big boned, my excuse too lol

He's a great player to have in your team when your winning, and makes a great first impression but when it comes to chasing the game he's no good at it because he is quite lazy.

He's not fat at all, it's just his build, if you look even at the build of his legs you can tell he has some amount of power in there. I'm happy with him, he seems very fit, he's quick, he's strong and there's nothing wrong with how he is.

Look how John Hartson was, I wouldn't say he was fat but just chunkier and maybe a bit too heavy, but what a great player he was.

He's much better on the left but our whole midfield did look a bit sluggish in the first half as did Izzy. Much better in the second.

Not worried about Commons he'll give Stokes and Hooper a run for top goal scorer wherever he plays.:shamrock:

I don't think he had a great game but his fantastic contribution last season makes me think he'll be good again this season. Perhaps these 4 friendlies over the next week or so will help the whole team sharpen up a bit.

And im not talking about just one game. From what i can remember of last season his best games was him playing on the left and his ineffective games on the right, albeit with a couple of exceptions.

I think Commons will prove to be a vital player for us this season, he was poor on Sunday but to make a thread about him after one game is absolutely ridiculous.

His weight is a big part of his game, he doesn't get bullied off the ball and has never been the type of wide player to skin the full backs like McGeady, he is a very different type of player, he is a tricky, powerful player who has a natural eye for goal and by no means slow.

I have absolutely no problem with his weight, he is a match winner who will probably get us around 10 goals which could prove absolutely vital throughout the season.

Don't agree with Doctor at all on this one.

Hes never been good on the right, much better on the left.

I'd say we need a creative rm for when brown doesnt play, we lacked a spark in midfield yday
