Kolo Toure

Said right at the start of the season kolo could have managed another season and I got plenty.

Doesn't seem such a crazy idea now

 

Big man might need to pull the boots on if we sell Jozo and Erik.

 

Nah mate.. he looked absolutely * and well over weight when he played at the end of last season.

He probably decided himself to more or less retire after the monchengladbach game due to being at fault for both goals when as the experienced player you would hope he would be the one protecting against mistakes like that. Which is fair enough if he didn't think he was up to it anymore and didn't want to stop other younger players from getting playing time

 

If after banking £7.5 million that can't have been budgeted the board/management think that Kolo Toure can replace Erik and/or Jozo in our squad there will be absolute mutiny from the supporters.

He seems a likable guy and done us a turn in the UCL qualifiers last season but he was run ragged a few times afterwards - most notably Motherwell at Fir Park - and his short-lived Celtic playing should remain firmly in the past.

 

Instrumental in Brendan getting off to a top start for us..

Was terrific in the City home game as well that gets overlooked..

In to the season he was starting to struggle with fitness and was getting caught out too much in domestic games against run of the mill sides..

Wouldn’t want him back playing. Don’t know how much of an influence his coaching has had because defensively we’ve been poorer in to this season..

 

Time will tell this month as to whether we sell both Sviatchenko and Simunovic. It does seems extremely likely we will sell one if not both. Now we have already brought Comper in and Ajer has really emerged as someone we can trust to play so I think we are in a solid spot as things stand with Boyata and Biton there as well. That is 4 center backs for the rest of the season even if we sell both Sviatchenko and Simunovic. Now certainly looking longer term we need to find a dominating center back who can really lead our back line no doubt about that we simply do not have that as things stand now but short terms we are not in a bad place just not ideal.

What a humble guy to have representing our football club seems like a lovely big guy which we all knew great to have around the place!

I thought he would have a bit of arrogance with him being an top £PL player but the way he described us and knew big Bobo is comforting. Changed my whole perspective on the big man.

 

Absolutely love him. So glad he got to play a few games here.

 

Dunno why because he has never in the slightest come across like that, comes across a gent of a man.

 

The big man played a big part in our success last season, great character to have around the squad and a born leader, maybe even more so than Broony.

Anyone reckon him moving from player to coach has reduced his influence a bit? Maybe as a coach doesn’t want to undermine Brendan or get involved with team matters ahead of Broony.

 

It doesn’t hurt to have a well-respected former player on the coaching staff either (as neither Davies nor Rodgers played at the top level) - or a French speaker if we continue to sign prospects from the French-speaking world (Dembélé, Eboué, Ntcham).

 

I love him. What a guy. Watched that interview with a smile on my face

 

Love the big guy, almost seems too nice to be a manager tho..
