    A rules man eh?

Think he'd be good on the coaching staff but think as a player he's done

He looked about 150 stone when he came on against Partick and Hearts at the end of the season.

People wanting to throw him in to our two most important games of the season when he's not even done pre season with the team have absolutely lost it man.

    http://africanfootball.com//news/723244/Ivory-Coast-appoint-Kolo-Toure-to-Olympic-and-A-teams
The Ivory Coast have handed Kolo Toure a coaching role with their lesser national teams.

The Ivorian Federation (FIFCI) announced through a press release on Wednesday that Toure has been appointed as the assistant coach of the Olympic and ‘A’ (locally based) teams.

He will be the right-hand man of head coach Ibrahim Kamara, with the locally-based Elephants set to face Niger over two legs in the final round of qualification for the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN).

Toure, who was capped over 100 times by the Elephants and featured in seven Africa Cup of Nations and three World Cups, currently holds a UEFA B license and will work towards his A license while helping out the national team.

The 36-year-old was last on the books of Scottish giants Glasgow Celtic last season.

Odd. I thought the reason he left was to continue his playing career. Must want to go back home.

All of the above: Handy as a backup, very usful as a coach/motivator, but guess his "playing" wage will be too much.....

Shame. Think he could have come in handy against Astana

Did us a job in the CL qualifiers last year but wouldn't want us to re-sign him again even despite our current CB crisis. As said above had a touch of the Efes about him, against Motherwell we were 2-0 down until he was hauled off at HT and I think that's when Brendan realised it was too risky to continue to play him. That said, good luck to him if he's taken up the coaching role with Ivory Coast, he comes across a thoroughly likable guy and never spat the dummy when he was phased out of the 1st team.

KOLO TOURE reckons Brendan Rodgers was the perfect mentor for him at Celtic as he embarks on his new coaching career.

The former Hoops defender was appointed assistant manager to Ivory Coast’s Olympic team this week after leaving Parkhead in the summer.

The 36-year-old insists he hasn’t hung up his boots yet and could yet go back to playing too.

But the ex-Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City stopper has thanked Rodgers for helping him learn his trade in Glasgow.

Toure said: “I had the chance to learn from Brendan Rodgers during the past season.

“I was still a Celtic player, but during the second half of the season I was basically an apprentice coach at the club.

“This allowed me to take part in the preparation of matches, pre-match and post-match meetings, as well as half time talks.

“So I had a great experience of coaching with Brendan Rodgers for six months, which has helped a great deal.

“This is a new challenge for me and it is a great honour.

“For some time now I have been preparing myself for this role. I was given the opportunity to become a coach only, but I want to keep playing and combine them both.

“I have played under Brendan Rodgers, Arsene Wenger, Roberto Mancini and many more.

“I spoke to them all before I decided what to do and they were all very encouraging.

“Right now, I’m waiting on the right opportunity to continue playing. If I don’t find the right club, I will make the leap and become a full time coach.

“I want to be a great coach.”

If ever there was a picture why he's decided to go back to Ivory Coast, this has to be it :giggle2:

The look of admiration Ajer is giving him :100:
