Got to admit, Toure has been a disappointing signing over-all.

DEDRYCK Boyata has revealed Kolo Toure’s influence and experience helped the Belgian defender stay positive in his quest for a first-team berth at Celtic.

The duo formed a close bond while together at Manchester City and Boyata, who has stormed back into the starting XI in the past two matches, said the Ivorian’s support was crucial in his comeback.

“The spirit is very good (in the team) and even when you’re down you have players, like Kolo, who come around you,” he explained. “Kolo is a very good person, a very important person in my life.

"When I was at City he was the one who took care of me and I played games with him before, so even when I was down he was telling me not to worry, you wait for your chances and when it comes just take it.

“I’m saying Kolo but there are a lot of players. He knows it because I’ve told him before. The relationship I have with him has been deep for a long time. When he came in, I was the first one to hug him but you need this kind of person to remind you that it’s not finished.”

Toure was brought in by Brendan Rodgers last summer to lend an experienced head to the Celtic dressing-room, complementing the leadership shown by Scott Brown and other senior figures like Mikael Lustig, but Boyata revealed the veteran defender has a winning mentality that also sits at the core of his influence on the team.

“The good thing about Kolo is he’s a person with a very good spirit,” he added. “He doesn’t like to lose so in training you can see, and any player will tell you, if Kolo loses, it’s a bad day for everybody. But then you have the manager who has helped me a lot with the points he’s told me and I can see the difference.

“When you talk about football with Kolo you can see he has a lot of knowledge.”

Aye because securing CL qualification, coaching our young players and persuading young wonder kids to sign for us is not quite good enough.

If anyone can't see what Kolo has been brought in for, and what he's added to us, then I can't help them..

Toure is working with Boyata in training anyone who think he's just sitting at home and not helping Erik, Jozo and Boyata improve there games are a joke
He was never bought to be a first teamer he was bought to mentor the young CB's at the club and help us get into the CL which he did

Maybe is doing more of a coaching role, I mind posting just the other week how he doesnt even come off the bench to warm up in games, like even at Ibrox he didnt even come out to warm up at HT even though he was on the bench.

    Would explain why that happens.

    No it's not.

Kolo will assist in training and provide assistance overall as well as helping players outwith the park whilst he progresses his badges/licences which Celtic will pay for whilst he is at the club. Win-win for all parties and can't see any negatives for our club in this deal as fantastic to have around the camp.

Can't believe folk saying he's been a poor signing. It's easy to forget where we were this time last year where even teams in the CL qualifiers were see us easy picking and putting 5 goals past us over two legs. Managed to come in and make us look better immediately, helping us through the vital first few months of the season.

He's cover right now, no doubt about it but the influence he's had on the team has been massive imo, going by how highly his teammates talk about him. You need guys like Kolo in the squad even if they're not in the first 11. Last year the only real leader we had was Brown and he was playing with hamstring tendinitis and consequently looked like he was moving in quicksand.

Considering we got him in a free, he's been a brilliant piece of business.

Toure was just as important a signing as Dembele or Sinclair, when talking about this season alone.

    Mental. He's been fantastic.

Only in the last two days you have Kouassi Eboue saying Kolo helped him decide to come here, and Boyata saying how Kolo is like a father figure to him.

Was just about to bring this up in the way Brendan has a great pull factor on players deciding to come here so does Kolo, personally I would like him to have featured a bit more than he has with the large wage he is most likely getting but when he has played he has been great and helped us get into the CL. The games against monchengladbach was his only bad game that I can think and everyone was * that game.

If it wasn't for Kolo we wouldn't have reached the group stages of the Champions League imo and now his experience is proving invaluable. Anyone calling it a poor signing is * mental.

Normally I'll try and respect an opinion and reply with my own.

He brings so much to us. More than we'll probably ever fully be aware of. This is a guy that was part of the Arsenal invincibles, a City Premiership winning side and who's name is known by everyone in football.

Very easy to forget that, he brings prestige just by being a part of our squad.

I've posted on and off here since 2007 and he's known for it mate.

Kolo was great early season as we needed cover, he's at the point in his career where he's winding down and will only play when needed. Looks to be an asset behind the scenes - Decent signing overall
