Rodgers talked about him and said he'd be signed today, and that was posted on the official Celtic Twitter. I'm pretty sure it's happening

I just don't trust players and agents, until he's signed on the dotted line I'll always worry.

Did he not say it should be getting finalised today, not go out and get Toure on your shirts he's our player now? Last minute demand requests from agents and players, or someone in England puts in a last second offer for ten k a week more than we have offered, I know it's all extremely unlikely I just refuse to get excited about anything until it's 100% official.

 

Fair enough I suppose. But I highly doubt this deal will fall through at this point. He's been to CP, had his medical and Rodgers spoken about it basically being a done deal

 

Hope he's still got something to offer. Others should learn from him too.

 

Common sense signing.

I really can't see many negatives with this signing. A hugely experienced centre back who has played at a top level for a number of years.

Him being 35 is the only downside but we're not going to get a centre back of his ilk in his prime years. He was competent at EPL and Europa League level for Liverpool from what I'd seen of him last season so he'll find the SPFL no problem and he'll be useful for us in Europe.

Of course, he'll have to adjust to Celtic and playing for us but that's where experience usually comes in handy so he should have no issues adjusting and should become a leader within the squad.

Do players ever get announced at the weekend? He's meant to be signing today. It is unusual to announce players before they are official but he must've basically said yes I agree to all the terms.

Great experience to have especially for our defence and as has been mentioned he'll be another leader for the team too.

It's a pity he won't be playing in Kazakhstan but it's understandable as he needs to at least train with the team first. The Barca friendly is good timing.

Edit: Just seen your post regarding the medical. Wonder why they're so confident he'll pass it, must be simple procedure.

Can't get over why this wasn't done weeks ago. He a free agent since end June. He could been signed and up to speed and ready for game on Wednesday.
Rodgers and Celtic * about with transfers. I would be more confident off beating these guys with kolo in central defence than Lustig or ambrose
