I think the idea in Mowbrays head is

    Boruc
    Hinkel Verkhovtsov Sumbody else Fox
    N'guemo
    Crosas Ki
    Sumbody else...........................McGeady
    Giroud

looks not bad, fox is average though

i also think that mcgeady may be employed on right with ki on right, and an attacking cm who can find the net brought in; possibly stilic.

this may need to wait till the end of the season if we can get brown sold then

SHEFFIELD UNITED boss Kevin Blackwell says he won't be bullied by Celtic into agreeing a knockdown deal for centre half Matthew Kilgallon in January. (Daily Star)

Well they're struggling in the league & won't want to lose such an important player as they have a chance of reaching the playoffs (at best).

However Kill ain't signing & will be gone in the summer at the latest, so Blackwell has a big descision to make. If we can do a straight swap with Mick I reckon he'll go for it, as he'll not be losing an experianced CB - just swapping one for another.

I think that Kill's wage demands may end the speculation though, he's on 25k per week at Utd & we won't be paying that.

If he does come though it means he wants to play for us like Sammy, when he took a pay cut & I love that.

Matthew Kilgallon is now warm favourite to become Celtic’s new central defender as plans to sign Dmitry Verkhovtsov have been put on ice.
However, although the 25-year-old is free to sign a pre-contract agreement from Friday as he enters the final five months of his contract with Sheffield United, the Championship side have warned they are not about to let him go on the cheap.
With previous club Leeds due a cut if Kilgallon is sold on for more than £1million, it was believed the player would be available at a knock-down price.
Promotion-chasing Newcastle are among the clubs who have indicated they are willing to enter the race to sign Kilgallon, and have not baulked at the £25,000-per-week the player is understood to be seeking.
Relegation battlers Hull and Bolton are also showing an interest. But Celtic hope the lure of European football without the uncertainty of which division they will be playing in can be their trump card.
Sheffield United have tried all they can to persuade Kilgallon to sign a new contract, but without success.
They are expected to try and cash in on him in the January window. And, with Gary Caldwell inching towards the exit door at Celtic as his contract runs down, a move for Kilgallon within the next few weeks is anticipated.
However, any notion Sheffield United will be ready to include him in some sort of January sale has been shot down by Bramall Lane boss Kevin Blackwell.
He said: “The chairman has made it quite plain we’re not going to be held to ransom. So, if anything does happen, it’s got to be right for us.”
Should Celtic make their move, United are understood to be ready to make a counter-bid for Stephen McManus, though a drop to the Championship has previously been rejected by the Parkhead captain.
Mowbray – who confirmed there has been no contact from Spurs regarding Artur Boruc, has revealed he is continuing to look far and wide for potential new signings.
And the Hoops boss has left the door open for more men to visit Lennoxtown on trial.
Belarusian centre-back Verkhovtsov will complete his fitness and strength tests within the next couple of days.

Bit late, just found this from yesterday.

I would easily pay 2 mill for him, even if it's just for some fresh blood in the squad, and hey we payed 3.8 for Fortune so why not 2 mill for Kilgallon. Use the proceeds of the Robbo and Caldwell sell to snap him up.

He's free in the summer, however he can't even command a centre back berth at Sheffield United at the moment, so even think about him ?

Kilgallon has started 22 of the Blades 24 games this year..and if he has played a game or two at left back that just means he's versatile. My mate is a Blades fan (dont ask why) so I watched most of their games last year and he is a solid and incredibly pacy defender.
