Maybe Rodgers has taken that up to the 60k mark now? Been a few extensions since coming in.

personally I’d be glad to see it for our top top players CCV, Cal, Maeda, KT.

surely Jota is one of our top earners now too you’d imagine?

what was the reported wage bill on the annual reports?

His wages likely bumped up by a signing on fee which will be paid over his contract rather than up front. So if he gets a £3m sign on, that's 15kpw on top of if on a 4 year deal.

If we cut down the amount of * in the squad we are wasting money on then we can afford to give it to better players. We've managed to do that past 12 months

A few more to go but that's the benefit of shopping in a better market.

It definitely is, if we could sort out the academy too then you have a couple of guys at least on the fringes of your first team squad to supplement it as well.

We will have a fair few coming back from loan in the summer that we need to move on. From a positive Lagerbielke seems to be doing well and we should get our money back there, Holm is away to the end of the year so doesn’t need addressed, Palma has just gone out but you hope he does enough to move on.

It’s more Kwon, Tilio, Welsh and Nawrocki that will take some work to move on. I think if we choose to put Yang out on loan or sell, there will be teams who will take him.

Right away that’s 8 players who don’t contribute much if you replaced them with 3 or 4 who would we would have a far stronger squad. If those 8 are on an average of £10k a week per player you could get 4 in on around £20k offering more to the team.

Do you think it leaves us short on depth?

Not at the moment, I'd say the focus should be on having at least a core of 16 quality players we can rely on. Starting XI and 5 subs.

Then if we make up the rest with a couple good homegrown prospects and spend on some good foreign "projects" that are perhaps less ready but also of a better quality than the likes of say Nawrocki etc.

Think it's still important we try and take punts now and again don't get me wrong. But the scouting needs to be better.

I hope we don't avoid the Japanese Market completely now, too.

Not if we replaced those not contributing with 3 or 4 capable of doing so.

    If we had

    1. Schmeichel
    2.Sinisalo
    3. Johnston
    4. Ralston
    5. Tierney
    6. Taylor/ Schlupp/ other
    7. CCV
    8. Trusty
    9.Scales
    10. McGregor
    11. Bernardo
    12. Engels
    13. Hatate
    14. McCowan
    15. Jota
    16. Kuhn
    17. Maeda
    18. Forrest
    19. Idah

Supplement that with a youth Goalkeeper, Dane Murray, another youth prospects say Ure, Anderson or others, that would be 22.

Add another centre back, a centre midfielder and a versatile forward like Kvistgaarden and that would be a strong squad of 25 or even another right back/centre midfield type like Schlupp is the now and have a squad of 26.

Most are on loan just now but we have:

    Bain
    Welsh
    Nawrocki
    Lagerbielke
    Montgomery
    Kwon
    Holm
    Palma
    Tilio
    Yang
    Kenny

Kenny and Montgomery are just youth players but that’s a full team of players who apart from Yang hardly ever play. Ideally The ones on loan earn permanent moves.

Brings back memories of Charlie Nicholas who was excellent for us who went to Arsenal but that * Graham didn’t like him so Nicholas wanted away.

Agreed with amount. 16 quality player but would add 1 Goalkeeper 2 Defenders, 2 wingers, 2 midfielders and 2 forwards all for cover so total 25.
Would also bring in a couple non academy players to bolster the young players squad

Grand old team to play for
Think we've been relatively lucky this year injury wise. Also think we've rotated well to keep players in good shape. Could deffo trim a few players from the squad, but wouldn't go too far.

When you want to use 5 subs per game, rotate and still be able to do that with a few injured players, you need depth.

    Would like to see:
    GK
    Kasper
    Sinisalo
    Bain

    Defs
    Ralston
    AJ
    CCV
    Trusty
    Scales
    Murray
    Tierney
    Schlupp
    Frame or Anderson
Maybe get a new right sided CB depending on how Murray does over the next few months. Someone who could offer emergency RB cover too would be ideal.

    Mid
    CalMac
    Engles
    Hatate
    Bernardo
    McCowan
    Turley or Ure
    *Schlupp an option too
Bring in CalMac's long term replacement

    Wingers
    Jota
    Kuhn
    Maeda
New RW who ideally could play LW too (or who knows, maybe Yang will surprise us).
    Jamesy

    Striker
    Idah
New (could be a £6 mil young project to compete with Idah)
    *Maeda as an option

    So about 27 players

Punt if we can, loan if not:
    Welsh
    Nawrocki
    Lagerbielke
    Montgomery
    Kwon
    Holm
    Palma
    Tilio
    Yang

    Loan:
    One of Frame or Anderson
    Kenny
    Turley or Ure
