    You'd think (hope) so.

Can see them deploying Scales or Trusty there if need be. We should be going all out for KT though, we have a playoff round to win in a few weeks. Hope our attitude isn't just be a 'happy to be there' one.

Brendan Rodgers has admitted that Celtic hope to wrap up a deal to sign Kieran Tierney from Arsenal before the window shuts.

The Parkhead club have agreed the terms of a pre-contract agreement, kicking in this summer.

Confirming that left-back Alex Valle has cut short his loan deal from Barcelona to sign for Serie A side Como, Rodgers wants to seal Tierney’s return on loan before a permanent deal kicks in

Arsenal are prepared to sell Oleksandr Zinchenko to Atletico Madrid and, if the Ukrainian leaves for big money, Gunners boss Mikel Arteta would prefer to hold on to the 27-year-old as cover.

However, speaking ahead of Wednesday night’s Champions League clash with Aston Villa in Birmingham, Rodgers expressed hope that an opportunity for a quicker reunion with Tierney might open up in the final days of the winter transfer window.

‘Ideally, it would,’ said the Celtic manager. ‘But at this moment he’s still an Arsenal player. So I think everyone would agree that (the move) will definitely take place in the summer. If we can do it beforehand, then great.

I don’t know. I think that we’d prepared that for the summer. And I don’t want to speak too much on it, with the greatest respect, because he’s not a Celtic player here now with us.

‘But if we were able to do it, of course we would like to do that. But that’s out of our control at this moment in time

He’ll no be back this month, he’s due 1.2 billion in wages from Arsenal and he won’t be leaving without them.

Money grabbing carrot that he is.

At least you’re finally admitting that he won’t be leaving until he’s reached a settlement on his wages. Since, you made a complete * * of yourself over it.

Yeah he seems to be all about settlements and wages that lad, who’s just gave up literal (and I mean literal) tens of millions to join Celtic.

The reason he’s giving up the millions(I’d dispute the tens of millions nonsense), is because he is due a massive settlement from Arsenal and/or agreement from Celtic.

The fact you are even attempting to suggest he’s not kinda proves my point about you talking nonsense.

He’ll be on, at absolute most, around the 40k weekly figure at Celtic. Probably slightly less and probably not as cut and dry as that in terms of clauses. If you don’t think an Everton or West Ham or Crystal Palace would at the very least double that over a 4 year period you are living in cloud cuckoo land.

You’re having a * nightmare here lad. Let’s say Celtic are paying him £40k a week over a 4 year period. If he was getting double at West Ham or Everton, that’s £80k a week. Now, I don’t believe they’d give him that, given his injury history but let’s say they would.

    £40k a week over a 4 year period?-£8m
    £80k a week over a 4 year period?-£16m

£8m difference: that’s not tens of millions.

It's great news, but I still think we could do with a really good combative DM this window to shield our backline better, as we have a lot of important games to come, between now and the end of the season, and I will keep banging the drum about it.

We don't have such a player on our books, and to me anyway, it is the elephant in the room.

I hear you and don’t disagree but it’s been done to death every window. McGregor no matter what form will never be dropped. Players who we may be interested in will know this too and it’s probably quite off putting. We may strike lucky with an unknown one eventually on the cheap buts it’s not a position I think we seriously target.
