Loan for the next 6 months is the ONLY viable option and obviously the next natural move here. The player is due 120k a week for the next 6 months . He will be paid that. The BEST case scenario for Arsenal is we take him on loan and pay a percentage of those wages. You think we are going to pay a transfer fee than pay him 120k a week on a 6 month deal ? They would love to sell him to us now and make money as you put it but we don't pay players 120k a week last I checked. It's nothing to do with what Arsenal want .

I’ve responded to this above mate. Think wires have crossed here.

My point is, and always has been, that KT wants as much of the money he’s due from his Arsenal contract as possible. A loan is one of the options on the table to facilitate that. @PaulM1888 says Tierney doesn’t want the money though. So my question was why on earth Arsenal would prefer a loan in that scenario, rather than selling or even just releasing the player.

Whatever way you word it, Arsenal aren’t going to get a fee out it that they keep. We won’t pay them over £1-2m I would doubt and KT will want as close to what he is due as possible.

I guess his contract will expire June 30th so given where we are he will have 5 months left on his deal which if it is £110k a week he is on he will due just over £2.4m but probably be some bonuses etc in there.

If it is a loan deal I suspect we would offer 50:50 essentially paying £1.2m of his £2.4m he is due. So that would suit KT.

The alternative and this is what happened with Hart was, is we pay Arsenal a fee of similar value £1.2-1.5m, they give that to Tierney and he then gets a little bit added to his signing on fee plus whatever wage we are willing to pay him so he gets his money.

Either way is good for the player as he will get paid.

Celtic would likely prefer the loan as it costs us £1.2m for 5 months rather than about £2.5m if we actually sign him between transfer fee, wages and signing on bonus top up.

Arsenal would prefer to sell him rather than loan him as although they wouldn’t be quids in as any fee goes to KT, they will have saved themselves about £2.4m in wages for the second half of the season and he would be off their FSR considerations.

Mind you it may be that we can negotiate paying Arsenal a lower fee and they agree to a pay off with the player which is still better than keeping his full wage on the books.

Ultimately though if that Ornstein was right it’s one of Zinchenko or Tierney then that’s pretty rubbish although I am not sure that will be the case.

Theres also the fact that if Valle’s loan is cancelled we won’t be paying his wages which were reported as quite high at the time we loaned him. So our net spend bringing Tierney in may be pretty low. I would still suspect this one may rumble on until the end of the week at the earliest with both trying to get the best deal and then Tierney being an option on the bench for Arsenal on Wednesday and at the Weekend.

It would be a shame if he couldn’t come in for our CL playoff tie.

Tierney will want the money . He knows he can't negotiate 120k a week again anywhere ,and you are talking about 2.4 million quid here , nobody is going to walk away from that. Those wages don't exist next season as his contract expires .
So I agree with you on that.

Might indicate progress on a deal for KT. Can't see us letting Valle go and leave us short.

We'll likely give him a big sign on fee to cover his wages for the next 6 months

That boy NEVER wanted to leave us. Lawell saw pound signs rather than keep an actual player whos hands had to be prised from celtic park. I * detest our board HH

Absolutely delighted if this happens. What a squad we have. Could not even dream of the quality we have looking back a few years. We are truly stepping up a bunch of levels with ambition.

Arsenal will have no interest in keeping him the last 6 months. They have plenty of cover in that position so it’ll come down to the couple million quid he’s due from them. He’s hardly going to waive that so it’s down to us to make it up tbh. I’d imagine arsenal would let him go for next to nothing to get him off the books. We’ve got the money there to make it happen so get it done.

A think he wanted to leave try and better himself in a tougher league and get the big wages, don’t get these fans that honestly he was getting dragged out kicking and screaming that he wanted to stay, don’t blame him but was his decision
