No, I’ve been pretty consistent all along. He has 6 months remaining on a mutually agreed deal with Arsenal. He could give that contract up tomorrow but he’s not. Why? Because he wants to be compensated for the money he will lose out on in the final 6 months of his deal.

He’s contracted to Arsenal for the next 6 months. By definition, he’s owed 6 months worth of salary unless the clubs agree a deal or Arsenal pay him off. It is about the money. Whether you want to believe that or not.

He definitely isn't motivated by money or he obviously wouldn't be rejoining us..

However, even he would be mad to walk away from the last elite level 6 months of his contract..

We will definitely need to pay a hefty junk of that if we want him in this window.

It will likely depend on how much he and us want to do it this window or we both end of wearing Arsenal down.. :56:

So I can see both points...

Never been fully convinced Tierney would be here this window.

It'll be a deadline day type deal IMO, where if they don't get any reasonable bids for Zinchenko then they'll keep him and give us KT.

I'd imagine they'd rather keep Zinchenko but the bids they get may change that.

See that’s an entirely different point, if we need to pay him a hefty signing on fee. However, still, I’d suggest that given the fact he’s forgoing millions to come back in the first place he’s genuinely not arsed about 6 months wages even if it does equate to millions.

Why isn’t he just ripping up his contract then and signing with us? Arsenal will be all for it.

Would you rip up a contract that only has 6 months left to run to the tune of approximately £3m?

Because he’s under contract at Arsenal and Arteta is using him. And that’s before Zinchenko goes and the other young lad was getting hit with a suspension.

Absolutely not, because I’d be wanting the money I’m owed. Exactly the same as Kieran Tierney, which I think most of us would agree on.

They brought Calafiori on before him and he’s a centre back. They also have players coming back that they can use at left back before him.

He’s coming on regularly for them and that’s before the sale of Zinchenko, they’re not going to tear up his contract - no chance.

If Tierney offered to mutually terminate his contract, Arsenal would be all for it.

You think they wouldn’t save £3m in wages because they can play him for 7 minutes at the end of games?

    Gies peace man.

Like I said, Zinchenko is likely away and Lewis Skelly is suspended. You’re also being facetious with the 7 min comment, as well you know.

I was wondering if his wages for this season were based on performances, and as he was not getting near the team before he was keen on an early return. Perhaps he will receive his full packet now and is happy to see out the remainder of his contract.

In their last 6 games, he’s came on in the 87th, 77th, 74th, not at all, 113th and not at all…. It’s not as facetious as you think.

He’s played 108 mins across 5 appearances and across 4 competitions. And that’s with a hamstring injury which kept him out for 5 months.

He’s a part of their squad, they’re not in the business of ripping up contracts for the benefit of other clubs.

I’ve just given you the last 6 matches that Arsenal have played and the minutes he got on the pitch. I can give you the last 10 matches. You need to go all the way back to their cup game against Palace in mid December, where he gets a start. He’s not getting regular substantial minutes before or after that.

The reason they’re not ripping up his contract is because Tierney wants paid and Arsenal see no benefit in giving him £3m when they can ‘use him’ as a squad player until the summer. Arsenal are trying to force Celtic to pay something towards the pay off or Tierney to fold and accept a smaller payment. They have no interest in keeping him. They can play multiple players at left back and players are coming back, even with Zinchenko leaving.

So why is it the 26th of January and not only is he still an Arsenal player he’s getting mins?

They’re not ripping up his contract, mutually or otherwise.
