Arsenal apparently want £10m for him.

I mean, if we offer £7m and KT is happy to take a cut in wages, get the deal done.

edit: their “book value” for KT is £0, I believe as he’s been there for so long, so any sale is profit in FFP’s eyes

He's too injury prone. I don't think he would want to come back anyway

Don’t we have a 30% sell on meaning we could get him for less?

    * this injury prone *, we could buy a player who's never been injured and could be ruined after a month or so. Do it Celtic.

He did just say he wants to come back, that's what's fuelled the recent debate...

Can't see it happening myself tho..

I would be delighted if it it did tho.. Taylor gets a hard time on here but rarely let's us down, so I would have no issue if KTs minutes were well managed with Taylor starting when needed.

I genuinely don't understand why people don't get this..

It would be criminal for us to sanction what it would cost for him to probably be fit for about 25% of our games and have to be managed and miss plenty of our 3 games a week during the gruelling schedule we'll have..

We should be nowhere near him..

He even has to be managed for Scotland ffs. Brilliant player but few and far between, too few for us to gamble and rely on..

Like who I have changed my opinion on? On a regular basis on transfer targets mate, stuff changes all the time.

I agree with everyone that Tierney is a risk, but if it turns out well, we have one of the worlds best LB. Would be insanity to turn that down.

You said "I change my mind on injury prone players all the time" so I was just wondering who you've changed your mind on?

People are just kinda brushing off the fact that he's an injury risk like it's no big deal and I think it's crazy that people are genuinely wanting to break our transfer record for someone who will play 50% of the games, be managed in the games he does play and essentially pay him a massive salary on top of that. He still has a HUGE contract with Arsenal for the next 2 seasons, as well.

Genuinely, if we wanted to go for a LB and ignore injury problems, I'd rather we signed Sessegnon. He's free, for a start, would command significantly smaller wages and he's 3 years younger, meaning there may be a chance to at least recoup some of the outlay we do spend on him.

I should rephrase it. All players, not only injury prone. I think most ppl are aware of the risk but are willing to gamle on the chance of q insanely huge possible reward.

Sessegnon is a really good shout i must admit.

Since the board dont show more ambition if we sell players for 30 mill, or 5 mill a season, i stopped putting to much weight on resale value. The * pocket it anyway.

Sad but true. Be a real struggle to find a left back as good as him, but rarely fit, so too big an outlay on a regularly injured player. Real shame as you know the guy would give his all every game.

It's not an insanely huge reward though, when he gets injured and we are playing Taylor against Man City and Barcelona. If we are willing to spend £10m and £40k a week on a player who has relentless injury problems, we should be able to spend £10m and £40k a week on a very good LB from somewhere else.

Completely agree, but what im saying is IF he manage to get the fitness tlgether and get rid of the injuries. Unlikely but still possible.

Let's be honest mate, we need to upgrade LB and we will be a much better team with a left back that plays the traditional full back role, better.

He's not Lionel Messi though. He's not going to singlehandedly win us games like Kyogo has done or Eddy done, previously. On form, he's an incredible left back but let's be real. He will absolutely improve us when he's fit and I do believe he's one of the best left backs in the UK/Europe when he's fully fit but I think far too many of us are putting too much emphasis on how much a left back will influence the team. It's not like we are going to win the Champions League with him coming here. There needs to be a proper evaluation of the risk/reward element signing someone like KT would bring and I'm confident the suits will see it as too big a risk for too little reward.

Still think he will come back to celtic just in about 3 /4 years time ..was interesting seeing on arsenal TV they discussed with someone high up at arsenal and he said tierney would go for about 10m so that's where the media get this from but he also said he100% certain it will be either newcastle ,villa,Leicester he will be at .might be part of swap with villa for Luiz. No danger were paying 10m or up for a player

Cheers for keeping track of my journey mate, appreciated. I'll consider the virtues of having an opinion and keeping it forevermore and decide whether it's for me. See how we go bud cheers

A quality LB, Celtic supporter and a leader..

    Hard to quantify..

I do get the concerns tho.. but overall I'd love this.. which is why it likely doesn't happen.. :56:
