Honestly as much as I’d adore seeing him back in the Hoops, if by some mass hysteria in the boardroom resulted in us spending £20m on a player and it being an injury prone LB, then I’d also be * off.

Best you could hope is half a season out of him, at best, those games would bring us up a different level though.

Our overuse and playing him through injuries has robbed the bhoy of a career as one of the best defenders in the world, Andy Robertson has that accolade, Scotland captain and a Celtic fan who loves us so a guy I also really love, but hands down Tierney’s well above him both fully fit at their best.

    If they'd accept 7.5m I'd do it.

Thing is you can't pick which half (at best).

Complete madness to sign him as anything other than a backup for us, crazy as that sounds.

He'd be first choice every single game... he's fit.

Fact his mum would be taking care of him means he'd be fit every game :56:

Not as a backup, if he was a bosman I’d definitely say £1m sign on, and a base £10k a week, but £50k if you play a game that week. Easily, no doubt at all.

But his type of injuries I don’t even think could be nursed by careful training schedule and game management. He 100% can’t do 3 games a week, but when he gets an injury it’s generally muscle injury and a good spell out.

The positive side for him though, is he doesn’t need any time to build up form coming back from an injury, he comes back exact same level. He must just be used to it by now.

This is a silly thought us even being whispered as a serious option at this stage, on loan yes, as a free agent yes definitely. For a ‘cut-down fee’ of £20m, absolutely pie in the sky, even if he was absolutely desperate to be here again and not wanting anywhere else, it wouldn’t happen still.

Aye I would imagine if he isn't staying at arsenal, he would surely try to move to Spain permanently?
Sociedad would take him if they can afford him.
But other clubs would be interested as well.

At Madrid wouldn't be any to take a punt on a Uk full back.

Atletico Madrid who signed Kieran Trippier, who was pretty much the opposite of what you’d deem a Simeone sorta player, was poor defensively but dangerous as * going forward.

Turned him into an all round player immediately.

Only Spanish team I can think of recently to actually take a punt on one haha

Hahaha I was thinking of all the clubs to single out, it’s the only one that has a recent example of the opposite:56:

A fully fit Kieran Tierney under Simeone would be a sight to see btw

If fit sure. But can't be relied upon at all.

Unfortunately his mum couldn't make that happen last time he was here.

Completely blame Rodgers and Lennon for that, not Tierney's mum obviously. Still makes me angry, can't imagine how his mum feels about it.

That was pretty much my point. He's just not a real first pick option for us in any way.

Any game he’d be fit, he would unquestionably be first pick. To an extent I imagine Greg Taylor even at top form wouldn’t quibble about his place being lost soon as he’s fit, more of a case of aye that’s fair, he’s a level above anyone else.

Just not reliable to be fit.

Tierney coming back is the new Robbie Keane rumour, isn't it?

It's more Patrick Roberts 2nd time round in all honesty.

Roberts did come back 2nd time round though, Tierney won’t. Not in his mid 20’s anyway. Maybe early 30’s for immediate retirement afterwards, because it’ll be a monumental achievement if he lasts very far into his 30’s

My point was Roberts second time round was a mistake :39:

Think so? Played a big part of our success I thought, was injured more than we’d have wanted though.

100% made Forrest a better player as well though, good competition when the guy who has the nod has the minerals to make sure his level doesn’t drop, always makes * better.

His first stint was better though, I’ll agree with that. Things could have been very different for us and Roberts if it wasn’t for that * game at the Etihad. We had £7m agreed for him, and he was that good that game Pep said he’d rather another loan and see what he can do instead.

Would have been here permanently if not. And would have had a far better career than he has so far I think, some players need the crowd and pressure, he couldn’t do it without that. Found a bit of form at Sunderland because they have that but too late now.

Tierney’s a better player now than when he left though, actually a good bit better than then, but his body will break down and it’s unreliable.

And also, Arsenal want £20m and he’s on £90k odd a week I think it is. That part is the most important thing, even if he could play 70 games a season, then it still wouldn’t be a thing. We’re being mentioned at all through sheer * lazy journalism

You are right. I'm being overly harsh, he played well for a couple of months and then got injured. I'd still say his contribution was minimal though, just everyone kept on talking about him despite that.

His career after us made me think we'd dodged a bullet on the £7m as it seemed he constantly underperformed.

He definitely loves the club and has matured as a player.

Tierney for me is a straight no under any circumstances. I love the romance of the sport but us getting Tierney under any type of contract is sheer lunacy.
