LIKE a £25million billboard ad the whole world can see.

With Kieran Tierney the poster boy.

Celtic fans might not appreciate the marketing campaign right now.

But Neil Lennon insists the business the club has just done with Arsenal will be priceless in the future.

Tierney’s record-breaking move to Arsenal is a bigger and better deal than the club has ever done before.

This isn’t Southampton or Swansea they have just concluded talks with.

It’s an English top-six giant and the long-term benefits of that will be huge to the Scottish champions, who often struggle to get top players to agree to come to this country.

Lennon said: “It’s a lot of money. Not only that, it’s a brilliant advertisement for the club and the academy.

He goes with our best wishes. He’s been a brilliant player for us and obviously he’ll be a big loss to us.

“But you don’t want to stop what you would say is his natural progress.

“He’s an outstanding kid and it’s been a difficult four or five weeks for him personally. We wish him well.

“He can go all the way. We forget he’s only 22, so he’s not even matured fully yet. He’s got so much ahead of him. He has been outstanding for Celtic and Scotland.

This might be a big weight off his mind now, but it’ll be a new challenge for him.

“It might be difficult for him to adjust because of his home life in Scotland and how much he loves Celtic.

It’s a real wrench for him to go. But it’s progression, isn’t it?

“We don’t all see it as that, but financially he’s going to be in a better place and he’ll be playing in the English Premier League.

“It’s a great place for him to play and thrive at another great club.”

That argument doesn’t wash with a lot of Celtic supporters who no longer see Tierney as one of them.

Too many naively convinced themselves he was going to play for them his entire career.

But Lennon always knew that was never going to happen and he insists no one should blame the boy for following his ambition.

He added: “The opportunity may never come again. The kid has lofty ambitions and the next step for him is to play in the Premier League.

“We want to keep making Celtic an attractive proposition for any player. We feel we are making steps in the right direction on that.

If we can get into the Champions League we become a very attractive proposition for a lot of players.”

The fact is it’s Arsenal that Tierney has chosen and not a club the size and stature of Stoke or Southampton.

Lennon said: “He wouldn’t have left us for some of those clubs you have mentioned.

“It’s more about his football ambition, as well as financial.”

There’s no doubt the end to this transfer saga will be a weight off Tierney’s mind. The past few months has included some sleepless nights as he considered his options. In the end, he decided he had to grab this chance of a lifetime and after coming to that conclusion he’s been emotionally drained by the on-off talks.

Lennon was in a similar predicament when he was a Leicester player.

Talks between the clubs dragged on for weeks, with the Irishman left fearing it may not happen.

He was quick to give Tierney advice on how to handle the situation.

Lennon said: “I just told him to keep calm and to try and stay in the present and not envisage what it’s going to be like. It can easily run away from you. He just had to let things take its course. We have a resolution which is maybe a relief for a lot of people around it as well.”

Lennon’s job now is to replace Tierney. It’s clear Boli Bolingoli isn’t the answer going by his performances in a Celtic shirt so far.

The bet actually changed to us buying a KT kit for whoever won. So now I have to actually go to Arsenal's website and purchase a Kieran Tierney #3 Arsenal kit and send it to him. I'm going to be sick.

No professional footballer rejects a move to a top 6 EPL side at the age of 22. Tierney is his own man, he's not property of Celtic FC. All the best to the lad, deserves the world.

I personally can understand why he has moved and i find those who are trying to draw comparisons with KT and Rodgers pretty embarrassing.

I think the only thing he can achieve more than he already has is the last 16 of the champions league and/or a prolonged run in the europa league.

He has seen two or three of our best players depart in recent seasons and a manager, who left us at a crucial time and was the second manager in recent times to publicly question the boards ambition and lack of reinvestment.

When the dust settles i think everyone will realise that KT would have ran through brick walls every time he stepped on the pitch and gave us a level of dedication in his performances that was unmatched.

If you're seen as one of the best players of your generation there's only so long you'll stick around the SPFL, it doesn't matter how much of a Celtic fan you are. KT has ambition, he wants to test himself against the best players he can, the SPFL can't provide that, there's only so long a player can be content with strolling through games against the likes of Motherwell, St Mirren and Hamilton. Celtic fan or not it becomes a boring routine, not to mention he's constantly being booted off the park by * players far below his level. Could he have stayed for 10 in a row? Probably. Would he have moved if it was a Southampton or West Ham? Doubt it. Is a top 6 EPL club too good to turn down? 100% yes.

Done very well for us, I’d be lying if I said I’m as bothered as some. £25million is a very fair price.

I’m numb to players leaving now. When players want to leave I want rid of them as soon as possible for the most money as possible, regardless of how good they are.

You can’t blame him for wanting to go and play in a better league for excellent money. He plays against hatchet men every single week on * pitches in half empty stadiums, sees a guy in his national team winning the CL and probably thinking “I’m every bit as good as him”.

It would be different if we retained all of our players and paid them 50-60k a week when they deserved it.

Tierney sees all of his most talented teammates sold on the regular, reducing our chances of developing as a club in Europe in the process. He’s quite right to not let his career stall, Celtic man or not. Good luck to him.

Also, the club are out of order with their statement. They’re implying that Tierney forced the move. Don’t want to sell him? Don’t sell. He was on a four year deal.

The reality is that Lawwell will be chugging in to a sock tonight after the conclusion of this deal, I hate the *.
