Just the way it is, our budget is huge as it is in terms of where we are at, in essence we'd be talking about having an even bigger budget to be getting "quality options" at RB/LB/GK etc.

Left back is a historically hard position for us to fill, KT/Izzy are overall up with the best options we have had. You look at City playing Zinchenko and Delph at left back, many clubs have a significant drop off between 1st and 2nd choice left back.

I'm content with decent back up to KT, decent back up at GK, RB and then I want my depth in midfield, the flanks and centre half. Two first choice qual strikers and an adequate 3rd stop gap I'm okay with.

I'd add that I'm not jumping for joy at the prospect of Izzy playing LB for us, but I'm way more concerned with having a kid in Johnston leading the line vs the huns and watching Lustig getting rinsed on the regular.

    I take your points...

But if you look at the Hun game.. Hayes isn’t an option or he would have played, we had to play our most influential midfielder at LB, which ultimately cost us the game.

We’ve wasted so much cash on dross and still don’t have decent cover at LB or a first choice RB, that’s unacceptable.

It’s not too much to ask to have two quality options for each position, if you aspire to be a top club..

McGregor being at left back didn’t ultimately cost us the game. Going into that game with a 19 year old winger upfront with nobody within about 30 yards of him was the most baffling thing there.

I agree with that completely. I would only add a 19 year winger ie not a natural striker who weights what and is how tall against 2 big physical center backs. Was never going to work out well. Personally I thought Hayes did well enough against Aberdeen at left back to have played him there leaving McGregor in the middle and playing Christie up top.

Put McGregor in the middle and he takes the ball and moves it forward. Brown in the middle and boyatas wondering why he's further back than him giving his * passing skills an even harder job.

I disagree we lost that battle in the midfield mate.. McGregor might have at least been able to pass to MJ.. all hindsight now.. KT should have * played anyway if he was fit enough for the bench, those * were taking injections to play. Get it done and then rest in Dubai.. a complete tactical failure by BR..

In any case we move on and I hope having Izzy as the only LB cover doesn’t come back to * haunt us.

Still can’t get over tactics and that’s well over a week now. BR has his biggest challenge yet as Celtic manager and that’s to win the league in this next 5 months.

Doubt it mate, there was nothing to move it forward to. The flat 3 in midfield was almost as baffling to me. Either of Ntcham or Christie being closer to Johnston would have been a much better idea. I’ve said it many times though, no Rogic means we’ve always lost that in the final 3rd of the pitch though.

Thought early doors Jamesie was getting close to Johnston and there was promise there. If you added Calmac into that then the scum would have had more to deal with. Imo there was not one single reason we lost that game, because so many factors contributed. Most importantly a referee not applying the laws of the game. We were * though, I'll concede that.

I'd release Izzy and keep Hayes as backup left back for rest of the season..

1 more deadwood of the wage bill and decent enough backup for 6 month's..

All true mate but with the same formation and plan, I don’t think it would have made much difference.

McGregor was actually our biggest threat on the day on the left, might just have meant we had * all, all over the pitch.

Winger up front and a decision not to offer support from midfield and a team that shat themselves.

My basic point is though, instead of trying to get somebody in to challenge KT, I want somebody in to challenge Edouard.

Burke can play upfront but it’s not his position. 6’2 and a bit of a unit though so he’d have been a better bet than wee Mikey.

True. But away from home in general this season hasn’t been good.

Mate, if Hayes was decent LB back up why didn’t he play him there.. Hayes or Izzy v Valencia or Huns away would be unacceptable imho..

    He should've done..

After his performance away at the sheep second half...it was the obvious solution..

Then he goes and rips it all up and sticks McGregor there..

Hayes is tenacious and has some pace left. Isn't asked to go and skin player's and create which he looks to have long lost so no as much emphasis..

KT will play those game's barring more injuries. Would never play Izzy again who is chronically slow..

From Brendan’s interview in the Celtic View

Kieran probably won’t train this week, but there’s a good period for him to work closely with the medical team
