That's the gut-reaction we're probably all having this morning, but by *, it could cause massive problems and could very well unsettle other playing staff at the club.

Tough TOUGH decision for all concerned. Damned if they do... Damned if they don't.

I don't even think it would be the case of "what do you think gaffer?" I think it would be more along the lines of kt: "I want to stay here"
Brendan: "it's a short career and you can make 5 times the money than you would here and also develop further playing at that standard week in week out, I think this would be a great move for you and for Celtic." Not saying it's Brendans ideal choice but he is employed by the board and I'd imagine that's how they would have him deal with it if they want to cash in

Me too. I'm not concerned about Everton - they've just opened a door...

Really hope i'm wrong, but i fear this could spark a bidding war for KT, could easily see a few clubs willing to pay 30 mil + for his services, he is very highly rated by many in England, they will have looked at the success of Andrew Robertson for Liverpool, for me KT is a better player.

We would have the money but it would be devastating to lose him.

Our business model is develop and sell. If we get 25-30 million it is a big moment for us as it sets a precedent for future stars of ours in terms of fee. We need to be getting the 20-30m mark for out top top players, not the 10-12 we have been accustomed to.
It also helps us reinvest in the 7-12 market and not the 2-4. Its about growing financially as a whole.

Every club is a selling club , if the money is right. But selling either of them especially going for 10 in a row would be a right kick in the stones. it's like Liverpool selling Suarez selling Dembele', and Tierney is a * to the support.

People turning on Brendan for his comments :giggle1:

KT and his agents will know what Everton are willing to offer him and he’s probably told Brendan he’d like the opportunity to have talks.

This whole ‘he’s being forced out’ chat is embarrassing. The day he changed his agent to the biggest agency down south it was obvious he was off.

Fair play to the boy if he goes, have absolutely no doubts he’ll be one of the best left backs on the planet.

As in the fee or the club, or both?

The thing for me is, would any cash be properly invested in the squad..

We already have lots of cash in the bank..

I'd be devastated to lose KT, but it's inevitably going to happen one day, Celtic aren't any special in that regards when the likes of Man U, Man City, Chelsea can go in and buy the best players from the likes of Real, Barca etc.

If/when Tierney goes, it will be for no less than £30m+ mental add ons.

I also think back to when we had McGeady - our "best" home grown product in many a years - sold him to Spartak for £9m and Lennon was able to use the funds to pretty much buy a whole new team over two seasons.

Hope Tierney doesn't go, but hey he's not the first star to leave, and he won't be the last - and he isn't irreplaceable...

Be interesting to see how much of the fee we would actually spend..

If he were sold for say £30m, i'd hazard a guess at 2/3 of that, or thereabouts.

Of course, but the reaction to them is honestly embarrassing by some on here.

The way modern football is I’d say KT and his agents know what Everton are willing to offer him and he’s probably said to Brendan that he’d like to ‘speak’ to them.

Rodgers is protecting Tierney as much as anything with his comments.

Honestly think he’s a stick on to go to United though and they’ll come in late like they done with Lukaku/Chelsea.

I'd be truly gutted to lose him quality LB's are hard too find we've been blessed with Izzy and KT in recent years

If the bid were 12-18 I'd say (much like Dembele) no thanks as I see him as much more valuable to us in the team than sold, I'd hang on to both for their contract duration and let them walk for free if needs be, they're worth more to us trying to make group stages than sold at that price. However for both, if a 25+ offer comes in I can't see how the club could not accept.

A quick look over Evertons squad and theres not much if anything I'd take in exchange if they attempt to make it a players plus cash deal. I'd demand 35, plus * them with add on clauses.

Everyone has a price, everyone has ambitions, every club has needs. It's a complex decision if a real bid comes in as theres a few factors to consider.
Tierney - his age, money, his love for the club, his long term ambition and plan, at what age has he admitted to himself he would leave (he must surely have the outline of a career plan)
Brendan - can I use the cash, do I have a replacment, fan reaction, Euro prospects after losing a huge player, also if Brendans only here for the next two years of his contract is it worth hanging on to Tierney till then
    Club - money, money, money

My biggest concern if he goes - I don't believe we buy 2-3 quality starters with the cash. Ideally that money could get you 3 very experainced ready to go internationals.
I'm a bit fed up with long term projects and loans but thats probably for another thread.

My main issue with losing tierney is how hard it would be to replace him. Realistically you'd accept £25 million but we can't replace a guy who's one of the top 10-15 left backs in the UK

For those who are in love.....
I'm certainly no turning on Brendan. I just find sometimes he entertains the media too much and did similar with Moussa in January.....where he was talking in far too much detail, to the point he ended up contradicting his self..

I'd be disappointed in Kieran if he wanted to go so soon. Only 21. Nailed on REGULAR captain soon. Chance of becoming a legend. Improving in Europe and let's not forget....still being paid some wage for a young boy at the club he supports..

Don't know about forced out, but the board would no doubt be saying "25/30 mill we think is a really good offer and for both parties. You have our blessing to go"....even if KT didn't want to go. He may do though..

He'd light the league up. I personally think he'll try hold out for a United, where he'd comfortably start. They've been linked for over a year..

No question he'd be a star down there..
