    20 years old.

Plays left back, centre back, right back for Scotland.

    Captained the senior team already.

    Superstar.

Brilliant again, roasted their defender all night. A pity no one was getting on the end of his mostly decent crosses.

Brilliant. The player I have the most trust in to perform is him and he's 20! And the player I have least trust in is...can't even be with all his fanboys going rage actually

SCOTT BROWN has backed Kieran Tierney to be his long term successor as Celtic captain.

Tierney stepped in for him in the rout of Kilmarnock and at 20 became the club’s youngest ever skipper.

Broony said: “He was born to be a captain. He’s a warrior.

“The fans love him and the lads love him as well. If anyone is going to take it off me, it would be a proud moment to give it to the wee man.

“He loves the club, he understands the club and he knows what it means to play for Celtic and to win matches and to lift those trophies.

“So you never know, one day, he could be captain of this club. He would love it and so would his family, so hopefully the wee man can stay here for a long time.”

Tierney also captained the Hoops in the recent 5-0 friendly win at Sunderland and, astonishingly, like Wednesday night was the oldest defender for Brendan Rodgers.

CELTIC kid Kieran Tierney pulls on the jersey every week and wears his heart on his sleeve.

In years to come he’d love the captain’s armband to go with it.

The 20-year-old stood in for suspended skipper Scott Brown in Tuesday’s 5-0 Betfred Cup win over Kilmarnock.

KT marked the occasion with a 40-yard wonder goal, his stunning strike and overall performance earning rave reviews from boss Brendan Rodgers, who described him as a born leader of men.

Told the manager had branded him a future Celtic skipper, Tierney beamed: “That means everything.

“The manager has been great with me from the first day here and to hear him say that is just brilliant for me.

“I need to keep level-headed and take everything as it comes. I’ll work hard every single day in training, as always.

“It was a real honour for me to captain the team on Tuesday.

“Broony was obviously suspended for the game, but I felt the whole team did well. From the very first whistle until the last, everyone was great.

“If you asked every Celtic fan in the world ‘Would you like to captain the team?’ the obvious answer is that they would.

“But Broony is here for a good few years yet.

“I didn’t ever captain youth teams or anything like that, so it’s new to me.

“The first time I really did it was the pre-season game down in Sunderland. That meant a lot to me. It was a huge honour just walking the team out.

“I then did my speech in the huddle, which was unbelievable.

“Like I say, it is every fan’s dream. I’ve now done it in a competitive game, too, and hopefully it’s not the last time. This is an historic club which has had some great captains.

“Obviously right now it has one of the greatest in Scott. I look up to him in every single way and he helps me, on and off the pitch, every day. He’s a total leader.”

It was Tierney leading the way against Killie on Tuesday night.

His performance was top notch — and that’s even without factoring in that 40-yard screamer.

For anyone who hasn’t seen it yet, the ball couldn’t have been smashed any harder as it arrowed its way into the back of the net from distance.

Poor old Killie keeper Jamie MacDonald didn’t stand a chance.

KT added: “When you’re in the centre of the park it’s easier to get shots away with your left foot.

“I had a bit of space and just thought to myself ‘Why not?’.

“It’s definitely the best goal I’ve ever scored.

“I felt like I’d hit it sweet. In fact I didn’t even feel it connecting with my foot at all!

“I hadn’t ever done it before, so I didn’t know how it felt to strike a ball like that. I was buzzing when it went in.” Tierney isn’t renowned for his goals — although he’d love to take more free-kicks.

But he added: “We have so many players who are good at set-pieces.

“I sometimes need to remember I’m a defender. Maybe it was just a fluke on Tuesday night. I don’t think I’ll score many more goals like that.

“From the left-back role, I’m up and down the park more and putting in crosses. But from the centre of the park it’s a bit easier to get a shot away.”

For gaffer Rodgers, one of the best things about Celtic’s midweek win was that it was achieved with FIVE teenagers in his starting line-up — Anthony Ralston, Kristoffer Ajer, Calvin Miller, Kouassi Eboue and Kundai Benyu.

Tierney added: “I rate them all very highly and clearly so does the manager.

“You see what they did when they came into the side and we looked like a team that had played lots of games together.

“That’s what you need as a young boy here, but I’m there to help any of them if they need it.

“There are more experienced players than me who will help them along the way.

“But I feel more experienced than last year, even just from training more.

“I’m learning off a great manager, a great captain and lots of great team-mates.

“But a few of the younger lads have asked me questions about what it’s like to get the run of games I’ve had and what they need to do.

“But they know. They work hard every single day, that’s why the manager puts them in there for games like Killie on Tuesday night.

“He has faith in them and so do all the boys in the squad.

“There were lots of players in the team who were under 21. That’s great for us and great for Scottish football.

“They all did a job and showed the manager he can trust them, which is the sign of a good team.”

The great thing about Broony is how he is with the youngster's, especially Kieran. KT admits he looks up to him which is understandable and Broony is clearly moulding him in to having his kinda mentality and swagger..

You see wee snippets all the time on the 2 of them and Broony having KT under his wing, never far away......now that Paddy is off even more so :fear:
