The wee barra was good today after a shaky start.

He is going to be a star.

There is nothing better than seeing one of our own breaking into the side and playing like that, is there? Excellent game today.

My concern is that he'll go the same way as so many of our youngsters, Paul Caddis being a prime example.

This has happened so often because we have been far too over protective of our best young players . Resting/dropping/loaning them to " protect " them and keep their feet on the ground when in reality it shunted their progress and * their development . Just let them play and develop in the first team . Tierney is good enough just let him play .

Atleast he's getting games at a much younger age than Caddis though. That even though he broke his ankle 10 month ago and was out a few months, usually don't see 17 year olds going from broken ankle to making their first team debut within 5 months.

Tierney is 18 and 4 months old and has already started 6 first team games. Caddis only started 10 first team games all in and he made his debut when he was older than Tierney is now. Tierney has already started more League games than Caddis did.

I understand the need to protect young players, both physically and mentally, but he already looks ready to start the majority of games for us. As you say, the more he plays, the more he'll improve.

True, but Caddis made a similar kind of impact. Any time I saw him he was tough in the tackle, got up and down the line and could swing in a good cross. The fact he played as little as he did (and was ultimately let go) is a bit ridiculous. Hopefully we've changed since those days.

Aye, Caddis really got ruined here though as he didnt get enough games. Was suprised when I looked there and he only started 3 League games for us.

Tierney should hopefull have played 50+ games for us by the age of 20.

Caddis was only 4 months shy of his 22nd birthday when he started only his 6th match for us. Tierney started his 6th match today at nearly 3 and a half years younger than it took Caddis.

As I say, hopefully we've learned to handle our talented young players a lot better. It's good to see he is doing well for himself down in England, anyway.

I was convinced he'd be a player for us after his performance against Barcelona.

This . The best players always break into the game early and are given plenty of game time in the first team at 18, 19 and 20. Happens with the best players around the world (class of 92 , Messi etc etc ) but even if you look at the best players Scotland has produced lately - the likes of James Mccarthur and James Mccathry learning their trade in the Hamilton first team as well as all the boys from Dundee United (Gauld , Robertson , Armstrong ) and going back a bit further Shaun Maloney , Aiden Mcgeady and Scott Brown .

Was class today, defending and going forward. Izzy has had his day. Tierney looks more composed in every area. First team material.

Him and Rogic should start Thursday. I would rather the mistakes get ironed out at the age he is the now and the only thing to do that would be to throw him at the deep end. We should have kept O'Connell around and paired him with Simunovic aswell.

From the bench, aye. He has definitely reached and passed his peak though (which is what I meant.)
