I think we're all getting a wee bit ahead of ourselves here.

Izzy has looked fantastic in some league games this year too.

Lets not heap too much pressure on the bhoy.

    Looks * good though.

The thing I'm happy about is he took to a defensive role well against Fenerbache and an attacking role well today. A player who has that balance between what's required in Europe and the SPFL is very hard to find. Hope we can continue to forster that.

Very, very early days yet though.

    Agree :50:

Even though it's early days I would play him in our biggest matches until he does hit that rough patch.

Izzy done the same against Ajax too (until the sending off :smiley-laughing002:).

I'm sure we spoke about this at the time, obviously Ronny instructed the full backs to concentrate more on defending against those teams. It seemed that way to me anyway.

I think he just underestimated Molde and pushed the FB's too far forward.

I agree on both accounts. Izzy's problem is he's one or the other though, he rarely has balance to a performance. Either defends like * or attacks like *, never has that same aprt of balanced performance that you can get out of Lustig or Adam Matthews when he was here, where you're more measured picking your moments forward.

It's like... Qarabag, did he venture past the halfway line? That's what he's like when he focuses just on defence.

It can be effective either way but frustrating.

You're right about Molde but he switched off completely defwnsively for the 2nd goal, I'm a massive fan of Izzy but right now he's not deserving of a first team place.

My biggest problem with Izzy is he is absolutely * at crossing. It's beyond *.

Then once he's asked to provide an attacking threat he loses all defensive positioning sense.. forgets he's a defender. And, as seen against Molde, he switches off far too easily. That was shocking defending by him for their second.

That's not a glowing reference on Ronny, underestimating a side from his homeland that he knows and should know inside out..

On the point of Izzy, i'm glad Tierney is in and is showing promise. It say's a lot about a youngster to come in and not only perform well but get a motm reward for his display and equally it say's a lot about Izzy and how maybe we as a support have severely overrated his influence at time's...especially more in recent months..

Although i'm not going ott on Tierney just yet but the signs are big..

Totally agree. KT is our now LB as far as I'm concerned. :celt_2: Izzy, when's on a game can be great but that's all too rare nowadays. KT seems like the genuine challenge Izzy needs to start producing regularly.

He's young we shouldn't over play him..

Izzy still has lots to offer.. He would have ran riot today too.

Glad Tierney looks the part tho..:50:

Unlike what happened against Molde, he has to keep playing. He is being solid, safe and earned his place in the first team. Will be infuriating to see Izaguirre back again in the next european game. Tierney is the best thing that happened this season so far.

A petty nuisance is this number 63. Come on lad, this is not american football nor are you a fringe player anymore. Next season give this boy a small number.
