Commons is ineffective on the right, Ledley offers very little on the left.

Haha you're looking it at the wrong way mate, I meant it like Commons on the left and Ledley on the right :50: As in the strikers are above them? If that makes any sense to anyone but me.

Ahh I see. Still though, I imagine Ledley would be even more out of place on the right! I think Brown does a very fine job there.

why ledley on the right though?

he's left footed and hasnt got a good enough shot on him to justify playing him on the wrong side

No ? With Stokes being given the licence to come up top with Hooper and Commons being able to float in behind.

I think i need to partake in this discussion, going to happen sooner or later, Ki was fantastic against Hibs yesterday, he gets unwarranted stick from a select few members on here and no matter what he does people will still see something wrong with him, whether its consistency or ohh hes still too slow.

Personally i thought ledley was invisible yesterday, i thought kayal was outshone by Ki and the two of them complement each other quite well. I agree 100% with the post about how sometimes people try so hard to pick out something negative when they praise a player they don't fancy or haven't taken to as well as other players.

Saying that when it comes to Ki or Dave i have a little man love for Ki, love him as a player and really hope he continues to improve over the next few years and become a top player. I feel like im reiterating the same post again and again at least a dozen times because of similar posts by other members and i don't know how many more good performances this guy needs for some people to simply say well done instead of well done .... but

His long-range efforts are one of his many virtues as a player. I think he will be big for us this season.

Well I've been Ki's number 1 fan since the first time I seen him play, so just to be clear on that, this is going to be a very one-sided post :p

I really think I've been watching a different player to everyone else over last season. Every game he's played he is simply the crux of the midfield - everything everything everything goes through him. He's the one who drops back, takes the ball from the CB's and dictates the lot.

He seems to have an awareness of the pitch that goes beyond even me as a spectator in a good seat in the ground or on TV. And both short and long passes are seriously accurate. I'd imagine (and some figures came out in one Old Firm game last season to back this up) that he must touch the ball 2, 3, 4 x more than anyone else on the pitch.

Throw in the fact he's a genuine goal threat from outside the box, is surely our best set-piece taker and can produce a match-winning moment of magic is merely supplementary. It's just strange that it takes a game where he scores a cracking goal for the plaudits to come flooding in.

For me he's been performing like Sunday week in week out - for centre-mids goals are just a bonus but it seems like he has to score goals to be noticed as our most important CM (or equally as important as Kayal)

I also seriously think Lennon won't be dropping him anytime soon (save for injury/fatigue) and the first choice CM partnership is Ki/Kayal. Can't see Brown being kept out the team so he'll be on the right, Commons left. Which obviously means Ledley is surely going to be a backup player really (but considering the amount of games in a season, that will still be a lot of games to play)

The only other options I see is either:

    .............Hooper............
    ..................................
    .............Commons........
    ..................................
    Ledley..Ki....Kayal...Brown
    ..................................

    or

    ............Hooper.............
    ..................................
    ................................Commons
    ..............Brown...........
    .................................
    Ledley.....Ki......Kayal........

but both would require dropping Hooper or Stokes. Which in tougher Euro ties, especially the first option looks like a really strong, solid team. But my guess really is Ledley will have to bide his time a bit...

Hooper can't play alone. Ki's long passing would work with a dedicated target man anyway.

thinks he's came on leaps form when he arrived in terms of his work rate and the defensive side of his game. no exactly up there with kayal in terms of it but he's improving a lot.

Last season i said he's only good in a 5 man midfield but the way he played yesterday shows thats not the case. think he'll just keep getting better

As hard as it is to drop anyone from that, ledley jet can't play on je left. Doesn't seem involved enough. It's going to be a long togh season and all our players wil be used but we need to play them in their best positions and ledleys best in cm.
Can see a lot of rotation happening this season

I agree with every word, I've always wanted Ki to start. It also amazes me that it's taking his goals to get him noticed because for me, Ki should be a starter and that's saying something itself - we've got quality in that position. Ki's problem is that Lennon won't drop Brown and Ki could be dropped.

It's a crime because talent wise and contribution to the team, Ki's miles ahead of Brown.

    Ledley--Ki--Kayal--Commons

I think we should be starting with this.

If we're needing to go more attacking, replace Ki, Kayal or Ledley and bring on another winger, obviously Ledley shifts into CM if we take Ki or Kayal off for a winger.

it pains me to say it because he is one of my favourite players but ledley has to be on the bench :55: you cannot drop ki or kayal after last weekend and in my opinion playing ledley on the left is not doing commons any favours

    commons....ki....kayal....brown
