Ki's main attribute from last season was his shooting, with him and Commons scoring loads from outside the box. But for whatever reason Ki hasn't even tried to score from outside the box this season, I don't think he'* a shot from outside since Hibs on the first day of the season. He had a few opportunities yesterday but didn't take them.

Think he is not a bad player, but he is overated. Lennon seems to see something we don't in him, maybe something in training? He is a decent midfielder to have on the bench but the players who come in front of him are definatly Brown, Forrest, Commons, Kayal, Ledley, even Mulgrew in left mid to switch someone into the centre.

I've seen Paddy show more ability than him and make more impact so it is beyond me why Ki is playing and Paddy isnt

Ki isnt really suited to playing as an advanced midfielder, hes more of a deep lying sort of player.

He's far from a bad player, in fact quite the opposite.

However, his ability is that transient in the context of the majority of matches he plays in that there are games (a shitload of them) when you have to remind yourself he is even playing. He has a brilliant burst of pace, for example, but when do we see it? Once in 10 matches?

well you would rather have a telentless waste of a jersey in the team ahead of a player with bags of potential who is the best passer of the ball in the team and is 4th in goals scored and 3rd in assists and chances created, that says it all really

Ki is a good player, arguably our best but he doesnt suit the tactics we play. Still can do well but we'll never see the best of him. Thats how id sum it up, I would keep him unless we get a great deal though like £7million and atleast 30% of any sale, wouldnt want him going to a team like a Newcastle, Villarreal or whoever and then being sidned by a top team for £15million+ and us being made to look like dafties.

If I've understood this post correctly then I agree. He seems to be happy to sort of stroll through matches. In a sort of 'Ah cannae be arsed' way. He can hit 60 yard passes, hit 30 yard shots, take men on etc... But he never does it.

You never see Ki have a brilliant burst of pace because he simply isn't fast, he's one of the slower players in our team and his recovery pace is dreadful.

Not spin, simple facts. I am going by the soccernet.com website and the skysports.com website for my stats

Really can'y believe some of the pelters Ki is getting.
I'll admit in recent months he's not been 100% (mainly since he got that virus in Korea), but at the start of this season, and last half of last season, he was one of our best players. Up until we started that * run of form he was scoring goals, setting up goals, showing a bit class. MOTM for against Udinese at CP.
He's lacking on some form just now, it happens. But Ki is far from pish, too lightwieght, and not suited to Celtics style. We play a passing game, Ki plays some great passes, one of the best passers in the team. And rememeber he's still ONLY 22. He's not going to be immense every game and will disappear a bit. It happens to young players. Happens to Forrest but because the team are so reliant on Forrest's pace down the wing he can't hide as much.

So really, just chill with the Ki bashing. He is not a bad player, not a great player. But he has the potential to be a great player.

Ki is best suited to a 5 man midfield or playing in a 4 man midfield in homegames, his skillset does not suit playing CM in a 4 man midfield in away games.

hardly talentless not the best i will give you that. But on old firm day and the hard games up north i know who would win for the last place in my midfield between brown and ki. Brown everyday

guess we'll have to agree to disagree but honestly just watch him when he is tracking back compared to the likes of Kayal, Ledley, or Brown, he's far slower than any of them. He's comparable to Wanyama for pace but Wanyama just edges him I would say.

Ki's actually quite fast. Your point about him tracking back is void really because the main point was that we don't see it often. Although I do rate Ki, I would have to agree with that because I've seen just how fast he is in glimpses. It's always frustrated me that we don't see it more often.

Still, play him in his favored deeper role and he'll shine, that I am sure of.

"telentless waste of a jersey in the team ahead of a player with bags of potential".

Sheer opinion and spin. No facts to be seen there.

I think people are being to harsh on him tbh, it wasnt long ago when everyone was singing his praises.
I think hes a quality player who we would be foolish to sell (well depending on the offer) , hes had plenty of good games for us particularly last season and in europe where he looked very comfortable against quality opposition.
