All the best players merge 'receive-control-look up' into one movement. In fact the best ones don't have to look up, because they did that before they received the ball.

One of the most consistent criticisms of Ki is that he lingers on the ball too long. This may be true, but only because he always looking for that killer pass. If he can't see it (usually because there is little movement ahead of him) he will retain possession by playing a simple ball to his team mate. Too many of our CMs over the past decade have been too happy to just punt the ball up the park in hope that someone will get on to it. It is rare that one of Ki's ambitious passes don't make it to his intended destination - that is why I think he can be such a good player.

It's obvious he is nowhere near as good, but his style (and I'm not alone in thinking this) is quite similar to Xabi Alonso's, or maybe Riccardo Montolivo.

I think if you divided the season in half, his stats pre-New Year when he was less safety-first in his style would be a lot worse than the 2nd half. I am not surprised his stats have been dragged up but I have seldom seen a player other than a specialist DM who plays so few passes other than safe square balls. Kayal's competion rate is probably not so good but that is because he tries to drive us forward. Its all about opinions but I think Ledleys pass compeletions stats is partly down to him passing the buck of doing the more risky passes on to the other MFs.

We will certainly see what Ki is made of as it looks like with Ledleys injury he will be our starting cm. Technically gifted and has shown that he will throw himself into a tackle at times. From what you see he is more of a deep lying playmaker and probably isnt appreciated as much as he may merit!

Ki had a good game on Sunday. I was pleasantly surprised with how he played.

I'm glad the one and only person that matters rates Ki.

Lennon on the players coming in while Ledley and Kayal are injured: Ki is an exceptionally talented young player and we want him here for a long, long time, no qualms about putting him at all.

I agree with you TAB, seems to be many peoples whipping boy after a bad performance or poor result, hes a very talented young lad who will get better and better, if i have one criticism of him off the field is that he may have to mature a wee bit, while we all love personalities on and off the park i feel once he gets rid of that teenager "humour" as i like to call it and focus on his game then he will become a very important player.

If we look at what he was deficient in, his tackling which was highlighted at the start of the season, and we look now he has improved that aspect of his game dramatically, if we give him more time to do the same to other aspects of his game like tracking and positioning then we will reap the rewards because i feel he has a very good future ahead of him.

I don't know why people want to show him the door yes we do have a big midfield and need to get rid of some wages but the guy had real potential

He did suprising better, had more hard graft than last game, got stuck in with tackles. Young lad and if he keeps on playing like that, he has a future with Celtic
