there's a long list of players that are criticised for one thing or another in the celtic team.

 

does anyone agree that he would be able to play centre half until christmas? He is 6ft+ he is mobile enough to play in the midfield, therefore mobile enough for centre half. Also he has a good range of passing, which would allow us to keep the ball a bit better. Him and charlie at the back, two ball playing center halfs anyone ?

Highest assister & joint top scorer (as many have already said) and I still think he's far from his best.

Not helped by being played (imo) out of position. The AM in 4-2-3-1 isn't his strongest position, nor is as left-most midfielder.

Think he's much more effective dictating play as our deepest midfielder but Lenny is keen to get him forward.

P.s. some of the negativity he takes on this thread is staggering.

But he scores a lot when he comes up the field. And we need all the goals we can get.

 

That myth about lightweight is Bull****, he is an imposing player physically as well as technically. People like you cannot get over the first few games when he played for us, when he was a little lightweight. Also it is perfectly logical to discuss about other players in a specific player thread because football is a TEAM sport. Although general focus has to be on the specific player, in a game of football, ones performance is heavily effected by performances of his teammates.

Also the argument that he is lazy is also invalid. Ki's style of play is to inject composure and precision into the team, in contrast to other midfielders like brown or ledley. If you slate him for being lazy for trying to set the tempo of the game and keeping his composure than you are taking one of his best attributes away in my opinion.

I wholly do see where you are coming from in terms of him getting bumped off the ball on occasions. But really, who doesn't? I've seen Shane Long bump of Alex to the ball, does that make Alex to lightweight? nope, its just a one off situation. Because contesting for ball physically requires more that the "lightweight" theory. You have to take into account positioning, pace and awareness.

And yes we are 3rd in the League atm, i resent that fact as much as you do but Ki (as ive mentioned above) is the joint top scorer and probably our top assists as well, Just because a team is under performing does not mean every single player in the team is as well. I think Ki is a prime example of that in our case atm.

 

some people really need to get off ki's back. like it or lump it he's been our best midfield performer so far this season - the stats dont lie.

So considering our highest scoring central midfielder last year, in 36 odd games got 7 goals and 4 assists, Ki is doing unwell, from the same position (playing 36 games) Ki is doing bad by scoring 5 and assisting 4 in 11 games?

I see the logic there.

i've been on this forum back and forward since 08 but this is the worst ive ever seen celtic chat for negativity. it seems like some of our own are desperate for neil and our players to fail just so they can come on here and have a right good whinge about it.

EDIT: For the record our current league position digusts me and i'm desperate for us to turn it around. i however realise what supporting your team means and it doesnt always involve glory.

 

Aye it is pretty bad just now, even worse than when Mowbray was here I think. Although the vitriol aimed at WGS at times disgusted me.

Ki is our most creative option. That being said, he hasn't looked anywhere near his best since the Sion away game.

I'd kill for a Lambert-Petrov midfield right now.

 

Even Robson/Hartley, we are getting bullied far to much in games.

 

Ki is one of our best players, technically the best player in the country. why are people criticizing him?
