6 mil is alright by me but I'd have liked more. I think it's below his worth but it's probably the most we're likely to get from him in our bargaining position. He's surplus to requirements but is a first-team quality player so needs to be playing first-team football somewhere. I think 8 mil is closer to what he's actually worth when you factor that he's still young, got a ton of marketing appeal and the style of football he plays. Hopefully we'll be able to reinvest this 6 mil into the team, if we can turn it into a reliable center-half I'll be happy. Then maybe invest some CL money in a target man.
Best of luck to Ki if he goes. I rate him as a player but it's really a question of asset management.

Irrelevant. He can only be judged by his current (SPL) worth.

Does anyone have any figures to represent exactly what this mystical (mythical!?) 'Asian market appeal' is worth to us? My guess is that the only folk who will have a clue is the Board, and let's be honest they're pretty good at doing their sums!

    Keep the faith bhoys!

Bullshit. Players are often bought based on potential worth more-so than current worth.

There is no market worth in Asia for Ki. No one can provide solid figures to back this up. He may raise our profile, but that doesnt mean a financial benefit.

To be fair £5m is good business for a player who hasnt developed the way we hoped and is still living off potential. With 18mths to go on his contract the board are right to cash in as his worth will deteriorate over the next year. That £5m will cover the fee we paid for him, and the wages he has been paid and maybe a little more.

The EPL is a far tougher and faster league than ours. He is pedestrian, one paced and lacks drive and energy. Having a decent shot wont get him by.

The fact he has never hidden his desire to use us as a stepping stone to his beloved EPL gives me a couldnt care less attitude to what happens to him.

We are Celtic, we move on. A CB now please from the proceeds.

Really happy with anything between 5-8million.No doubt he is a good player but he isn't suited to spl football. To get that kind of money for a player who didn't look close to breaking into the first team is good business. This is the time to get the problem CB position sorted, wether we get into the champions league or not.

Honestly don't think we can sniff at 6 million. Got oure matches and memories out of him and made nearly 4 million... where's the problem?

    Good luck bhoyo!!!

i would prefer 6 million in real money than 8 million of theoretical money !

its just good to get the money finally as we knew he was getting sold . 6 mill is a decent fee for a guy that failed to set the spl alight and has limitations . our fifth choice centre mid , bottom line that is.....

that money needs to be lumped on rhodes, or henriksen and a centre half .

if we beat helsingborg thats the club netted over 20 mill in just over a week !

I feel pretty confident that Ki will go on to do well at his new club and that he will be sold on for a larger fee in the future. Good luck to him.

In terms of his value to Celtic as a footballer then I'd have to say we've done well to get £5-6million for him. He's never looked like a £5-6million player for any length of time while he's worn a Celtic jersey.

I was hoping for more but I think £6million is a decent price for a player who wasn't first choice.
I've always rated Ki and I know he will do well in the future. Good luck to him.

We have excellent strength and depth in midfield already, £6m is a great fee for a player who we can easily live without, as talented as he is.

I hope we have a clause to get 20% of whatever hes sold for. As like a few people have said 1 good season down there or not even that just 3/4 long range goals and a good display or 3 against some of the big teams, shocasing his skill and passing and they'll probably all be falling over each other to bid £20-25million.

He's better than loads of the midfielders at top clubs down there.... Sandro, Livermore, Diaby, Adam, Allen, Cleverly, Anderson, Rodwell, Romeu, Mikel, Huddlestone, Jenas etc and theres not much between him and some of the regular starters like Meireles, Carrick, Barry, Ramsey, Parker, Ramires, Arteta, De Jong, theyre not great players. The Premiership is badly lacking in good technical centre-mids.

200% profit on a player who wasnt starting/playing the majority of games- no concern over this due to our strong midfield- time to bring in an experienced CB

All the best Ki! Good luck in the EPL!

6 million for a bench warmer is good business, to the guy above putting him almost in the same bracket as Ramires, Parker etc you must be joking mate, this guy can't get a game for Celtic!

Oh, great. Can't wait to not see this money invested on the field.

I really feel 5m was the absolute floor on a deal for Ki. Will feel a little bit better about 6m, but don't think we'll get that amount.

    I hope to * there's a sell-on clause at least, since we're giving them a bargain price.

He cant get a game for us because the way we play and the teams we face, we've no use for a player like him. But bigger teams in bigger Leagues will. Up here its basically us V 10 at the back week in week out, down there nobody plays against anyone like that, most teams are fairly open against each other.

For example a player like Mackay-Steven would be very useful for us in the SPL, but he'd be of absolutley no use to anyone in the Premiership, hes too wee, not fast enough, too wreckless. It would be like taking sweeties out a pram to guys like Zabaleta, Richards, Johnson etc

Just because a player plays well for us or doesnt doesnt mean they are good or bad players.

Mo Donati couldnt lace the boots of Ki yet plays for a top half Serie A team after not being good enough for Celtic.

Only reinvestment in fixing the weak positions in our team would make the sale bearable. Without it, it's a fiasco.

with lennon stating he has been sold to help with the clubs dept i dont think much of thhis sale will go back into the team.
I think it will be 3 mill for dept and 3 mill for a players.
I hope everyone takes notice we have not spent this summer because of the dept and the board are not sitting on 100million of the fans money.
