I think it's going too far to say that Ki is a 'liability'. One thing is for sure though, Ki is not as good as Beram Kayal.

With the league as tight as it is, we dont have the luxury of giving players "chances" We need everyone to step up to the mark straight away. Ki has had an opportunity today and didnt take it. He may get another one on Wed, but he will seriously have to improve his all round game and roll his sleeves up.

We dont have the luxury of a massive lead where we can allow luxury players to express themselves.

He doesnt do enough of the ugly work that is necessary in midfield. A great range of passing is no use when we are under the cosh, on a * pitch and behind in goals.

This "Aye but, he is only 22 though" doesnt cut it. He has played in major international tournaments for his country and came with a big reputation. Kayal is only a few months older than him.

No one's saying he's better than Kayal, not sure why you would use him as a comparison.

Kayal is undoubtedly 1st choice CM. The debate is Ledley or Ki to partner him.

I didn't say people were saying he was better than Kayal. I used Kayal as a comparison because we clearly missed Kayal today and also because a few weeks back there were a * of a lot of people saying that Ki - Ledley was our best central midfield partnership. It clearly isn't.

If it was a choice between Ki and Ledley to partner Kayal then I would choose Joe Ledley. Ledley and Kayal have struck up a good understanding and I'm not a huge fan of Ki in any event.

Ki still has quite a lot to prove imo.

total nonsense. Most people though Brown was decent in his first season until his sister died. In his 2nd season he was the Scottish POTY. In his 3rd season he was not really match fit until the end of the season so he can hardly be judged.

I can't believe this thread honestly... he was player of the year before he left for the Asian Cup and was the first name on the team sheet.

But, now he is * aye?

    Lets be rational here.
The pitch was absolutely attrocious. Complete disgrace.
Ki has superb technique and really world class vision and passing, but the situation just did not allow him to play to his strengths.

Given the conditions, I can accept a few missed passes, a few sloppy distributions.

What I can't accept is his lazy half ar*sed effort and total lack of interest. FFS. Once you pass the ball RUN into space. Either forward or back. Give an angle for a return pass. FFS sake man RUN. None of this disinterested jogging *. You're 22 years old. Don't play like you're 42. Close down your man early. Some days it's like this. It's an arm wrestle. Adapt. When it's a trench war, not a picnic, and conditions don't suit your natural game, dig in ffs. Hustle, hustle, hustle. RUN FFS. Defence may not be your best attribute, but at least pretend that you're interested! RUN!

People, and hopefully Ki, need to realise football is more than just playing defense splitting throughballs. He's 22 and there's heaps of potential there, but I hope Lenny let him have it after that effort yesterday.

markybhoy sums up the attitude of the op posts and of others on this thread, like padmill and others, marky you said you don't really like him that much for whatever reasons and i think that is the problem, too many people have a predisposition for Ki, so whatever he does in a game people will think he was the only terrible player when it was the whole team or he played alright when he actually played very well.

Its almost that simple, i just find it so hard to believe that people can so easily criticize Ki yet the rest of the team is suddenly let off for their horrific display and the only one taking a beating is Ki who if i remember correctly had no part in either of the goals that we conceded today and in fact mulgrew did and izzy did so why am i not seeing a thread on the idiocy of izzaguirre. You know why? Because people like him and chose the ones they don't really like and use him as a scapegoat. I am not for one minute saying Ki played well, he was very poor but what im trying to insist is that every single player played poor today and its extremely unfair to take it out on one player.

His game is based on passing, his accuracy and switches are excellent, he's probably not the best tackler in the team but that it's his primary responsibility, don't really see the point of this thread. Think about how many goals we scored from free kicks and corners taken by Ki.
