And we need to trust in Neil he's doing what's best for Celtic with what is available to him.

We also have no idea what kinda wages Doyle would command.

I'm not sure how accurate this is but it's been reported that he's on £25,000 a week. I think this is what Hooper was after too but who's to say that even if we did offer Hooper that, then there still wouldn't be offers for that might interest him. If it would have been possible to keep Hooper then I would have been all for that.

I'm more concerned about injuries though from Doyle and we don't want him missing two months if he's gonna be picking up a bumper pay, but who's to say that a cut or something else can't be worked out during negotiations or even that he won't take a cut to come. Lennon will have a package in mind that should justify bringing him here.

If he stays fit and we get him on the cheap, since Wolves desperately need shot of him now, then I think he could be a great singing who I personally would have confidence of hitting 20 give or take.

The Amido signing was an odd one IMO. To spend the money we did on him I would have expected a bit more from what we have seen already. That money itself could have been a direct replacement for Hooper. At the end of the day though, I don't think Lennon will be looking for a replacement for Hooper. He will be looking to add to the strike force and hopefully bring a couple of players that can continue the same scoring rate. It won't matter if it's 20 headers a season or 20 tap in's.

That said, I;m only really annoyed by the Doyle haters and the overreactions. I like you have reservations but if Lenny decides that he's the man, then the support need to get behind him to squeeze every last inch from him. :shamrock:

To be fair to Skinner, I think we'd all be very surprised if a guy like Doyle, in what would likely be his last "big" full time contract, was asking for less than 15 / 20k per week.

Of course it's an "unknown" - but we would all reckon that would be a realistic area to think about re wages - which on Celtic's structure is a large commitment, as opposed to a low earner.

Agree 100% mate - i'm no hater, just someone with grave concerns, that's all.......more so given what we have at our disposal currently, and what we look to be losing in the next 24 hours or so.:50:

I don't think we'd offer him anything over £15k a week. He'll be left to decide, medals and a shot at the Champions League or slightly more in a nowhere club.

If we even go for him.

Doyle will know fine well if he's getting a shot at footballing resurrection with Celtic, then he will be nowhere near the top earners at the club imo.

Anywhere from £13k - £17k a week is acceptable for him imo.

Hrmm, nae sure Pad mate - under contract for another couple of years, and his 30th birthday up next........probably the high end of that number above - 17k, right in the middle of my guess, and i think that's a fair assessment of what Celtic would offer him as a weekly wage. That's still a helluva lot for a Club with our wage structure - ie a lot of the allocation eaten up. * me, it's more than Craig Mather gets to run the dobs!:smiley-laughing002:

Let's be thankful that Lenny doesn't base his signing policy on the opinion of Wolves fans then :50:

This is one of these posts where the word "thankful" could easily be replaced by "* distraught" in 30 months time!!:smiley-laughing002:

To be honest it's not my money so if he thinks a bit of experience is good for the team and he signs so be it. I'm kinda confident he could net a minimum of 15 goals in the league.

His style of play might not be the best but technically he's not bad.

It would be daft to compare him with Hooper, but he's got a decent shot on him and is good in the air.

I've said before he's not the player i'd have expected us to sign, but at the same time, i don't see it being the end of the world if he does come in.

Like i said it's not my money, and we'll struggle to get a guy in who's experienced enough to come straight into the side.

I thought we'd be ok with Balde up front. Maybe it pushes Balde that bit to get more goals. Who knows. At the end of the day if he comes in and scores goals, age, stats and wages become irrelevant.
