My best pal is a cop up there, I wonder if he could throw him in the cells for trespassing...

Would be bit harsh to punish fans for trying to getting autographs off their heroes surely?

When he won Reading player of the year, Championship fans player of the year and was in team of the year when Reading got promoted to the EPL.

Only scored 13 the following season but missed two months with a hammy. 1 less than Rooney who played more games and 4 less than Ronaldo who also played more games. Missed out on PFA young player of the year to Fabregas.

So because he didn't break 20 goals he's a bad player? I think not.

Yes, it was also 7 years ago.

No, it does not make him a bad player but it does not make him the right guy to replace Hooper or to improve our attack. Bringing a 30 year old Kevin Doyle in for a couple million, with good wages who has done nothing of note for the past 4 seasons and only managed 9 in 40 odd games last year would be a poor deal.

Sutton was finished that season. Hartson and Zurawski where the front two. Hartson got 18 goals in the Spl, Doyle got 18 in the championship.

I don't personally think he's a bad player at all....however, am very wary he'd be a top earner up here if he came, and would have no sell on value. Literally none.

He's not scored more than 9 goals in ANY season since 2008 (going by wiki, so blame those * if that's wrong,) which suggest to me he'd be another striker who doesn't score goals. And i've seen enough of them up here (as i'm sure we all have,) in recent years.

The idea of him being a squad player is also bizarre IMO (not that the poster quoted above mentioned it; however it has been referred to before in this thread.) If he was to move here, it would be with a view to him being a starting 11 player.

He has talent - and brings certain things to a team. However, I for one hope he's not the man to come up here. We need a goalscorer for when Hooper goes. A guy you think to yourself "that * will get 20 a season blindfolded."

    Is Doyle that man?

Not for me he isn't. I suspect it will take Balde a good while to get to the stage where he's knocking in any more than 1 in 3..........without someone to take the pressure off him, it equals danger danger IMO.

I've also covered what he had done in the EPL with Wolves though to make my point.

What are you going on about? All I'm saying is that those players were still here, not talking about how good they were, has nothing to do with Kevin Doyle either:97:

Doyle is utter * *. Replacing Hooper with him would be the crime of the century, i'm confident Lenny knows what he's doing and will not sign this overthehill muppet, who was * even when he was on the hill at perfect elevation.

The opinion on him of most Wolves fans is enough for me never mind his stats.

You're putting far too much thought into this :smiley-laughing002:

The bottom bit - not scoring 20 doesn't mean you're a bad player. NEVER scoring 20 means your very unlikely to suddenly bang in 30+ at this stage of your career.

First off I agree with the lets trust Lenny bit. The man has earned our trust.

How many didnt want another centre midfielder when big victor signed. People didnt want him because he wouldn't improve our team. The rest is history.....ll

Ok yes Doyle is older and a more known quantity, but maybe a new environment might bring a change in fortune. Doyle was a good player just a couple of seasons ago,I can't believe this is all lost. He's also ahead of stokes in the Irish set up. And that's before stokes spat the dummy out.

The problem with this is Doyle could be signing on the back off selling our best striker since hartson. And people are gonna compare hooper to Doyle, which is unfair. We have also signed balde. If it was the other way around, and we signed Doyle a month ago, people would be more willing to give the guy a break.

    In Lenny we trust

It's all well and good trusting Lennon, however I can't help but think he's only signing Doyle because he's been given very little funds.

The problem with Doyle being a known quantity is that he is known to be a *, injury prone player.
