It would depend on how much he wants it. A fully commited kevin davies would give us another option.

Would anybody consider playing charlie mulgrew left midfield for the dilvery into the box for davies?

    Foster

    Matthews rogne fojut izzy
    Forrest victor ledley mulgrew
    Davies hooper

Mulgrew would provide good cover for izzy to bomb down the left wing too.

K.wilson, brown,ki,commons and stokes and big maj
    unlucky to miss out

The guy is made out to play for the weaker teams in respective leagues... would not suit our playing style in most games but he will be useful for some tough away games. That for me, is not worth 25k in wages.

Would score a ridiculous amount of goals here, he is everything you want in a target man. Age doesn't effect the kind of striker he is like the way it effects strikers who rely on their pace, he still has at least another 3 years at the top level in him.

Cracking player!! Still has a few years in him yet.. One of the best target men in the UK and has been for years.. His experience and physical edge is exactly what we need..:50:

Don't understand how you have come to that conclusion?, most weaker teams play 5 in midfield and a pacey striker up front for playing on the break ie Long at west brom, the fact he hasn't played for a top team has nothing to do with his style of play, remember he was capped for England very recently aswell.

always been a good target man. For weeks Ive seen fans moan about how we need someone who can score headers and Davies is one of the very best at doing that.

34 yes but we have a very young team, a bit of experience in there wouldnt do any harm at all.

Sunderland ready to make £1.5m offer for him.

would rule us out after that £1.5m for a 34year old not worth the risk.

    I thought he'd be going for a loan or freebie. 1.5m, * *. :56:

He'll be 35 next month. They'll be lucky to get more than another 30 good games out of him.

who cares what age he is, he would boss this league for at least another 2 years...would rather we signed KD ahead of anyone we have been linked with in over a year.

people who think hes done because of his age really dont know what they are talking about and are basing there comments on a number. Its amazing how he bullies prem defenders

    get it done lenny

I do! This isn't a charity game or some *, it's a competitive sport and you need to be a top athlete to conduct yourself well in it. The older the body gets, the less able you are to 'boss' leagues, as you say.

I supremely doubt he would be a force for more than 6 months. If you're going to pay 1.5m for him, plus signing on fees, and then a big wage, plus bonuses, you're talking a lot of money for a not very smart investment.

At least with the likes of Bangura, he has time on his side, and we can still reap something from his transfer, for example.

Davies would be a pure gamble.

And it isn't 'amazing' how he 'bullies' defenders. He commits more fouls than any other forward. He holds the record in the league for his feat! A Hun-like quality, if ever.

You have a point there Sean, but dunno if it would be wise to spend this kinda dosh on him, bearing in mind his age, plus we only spent £300,000 on Lubo. I still rate him as a good striker though :50:
