He does have fitness issues, he isn't capable of closing down for the 90 minutes like Neil likes, he doesn't track back, he's not good in a defensive sense whatsoever.

I can't get my head round why he doesn't feature more until we are desperate to win a game and he gets flung on as a potential matchwinner. His passing is excellent, his dribbling is excellent, his composure is good, his free kicks, his finishing, his vision... all attacking tributes he is good at.

He does have his injury problems but for me Paddy should be Plan B, when he is fit he should be ready and waiting on the bench, I lost count of the amount of games last season when we were having problems breaking down anti-football I thought, that's a Paddy game and he's sitting in the stand.

I like Paddy, but he seems unable to force his way into the side or manage to stay there when he does get in. There is no doubting his talent, but there is doubt over his consistency.

I would not be adverse to us selling him for £1M plus...

Show me where anyone has praised him for lasting 90 minutes?

    We're just saying it's a lie that he can't.

If McCourt was desperate to make it here he would have gotten himself to the fitness level that Lennon wants.

Punt for me. Contributing nothin' bein' on the bench aw season every season, emptying the coffers.

I think it's in everyones interest if he found a club where he actually got to play regular footie, naw? Mibe that's just me. :icon_mrgreen:

Move him on for his own good. Wants game time and he won't get it here.

Should move elsewhere as warming bench doesn't do him any good, especially with his best football years approaching.

It's just shame seeing him getting 10 minutes now and then and few pre-season games, he has a lot to offer and I guess there are teams who would love having him in their midfield.

I would keep him if he wants to stay. I would wish him good luck if he wanted to go.

He is cheap and he gets the fans going. Even sitting on the bench his wages are minimal and if he could contribute maybe a few bits of magic in the season then I dont have an issue with him staying. I dont rate him as much as others, but he is still an exciting player and the fans love him. If he is happy at celtic I would keep him.

where is this pish coming from he cant last 90min, mc court was up against lads as young as 18-19 twice as fast as any that are playing week in week out and running * rings round them, and had older defenders heads birling when he was playing for the second eleven. and if you ask any of the fringe guys that he played against, they will all tell you mc court is some player, and even they cant work out why he don't get a game. he is the only guy that will break a defence for us when teams have 10 men behind the ball, mc court will draw them out he has proved that on the few times he has played, but Lennon want 2 images of him self on the park, the type that look busy but produce * all, and more times than most, the said two get carried, how many games have we to suffer or did suffer with the lack of the defencive splitting ball, or the lack of play coming from the middle of the park, we have a goal scorer of 29 goals that with the aid of mc court should have been 40 +. to say mc court cant last the pace, is only believing what Lennon wants to tell you, as he has created a clique within Celtic. and as far as Brown goes, it certainly looks like it here, there's nothing to make me think anything different, as he must be there for snitching purposes, maybe all managers find they need a ear in the room. but for me it would be 2 feet in the park that i would seek.

Don't waste your time. Many TC members before you have tried and failed in their attempts to stop Butch wanking over Brown every day

    Maybe Butch is Broony?

Seems like the comedy jape he would pull, although he should probably be training a bit more.

Anyway, I voted to keep Paddy purely because I have a dream of him coming on in the last 5 minutes of a CL game against Barca and doing a typical dribble round 6 players and scoring the most beautiful winning goal ever, before swapping shirts and downing shots with Messi in a bar on Las Ramblas.

Sadly, Paddy won't make the European squad as Lenny will just leave him for domestic games when he can terrorise the likes of St Johnstone, so for that reason it would actually be best if he goes.

Hopefully we can get some money for him, I read surprisingly that we turned down A 500k (or so) big from Blackpool last January, here's hoping they come back with more or the same again.

I can remember a very important game last season, against motherwell at Fir Park, where Paddy came of the bench and won us the game. Contributed nothing before that when he was on the bench right enough :50:

Let me just say from the beginning that it is undeniable that Paddy McCourt has a lot of natural talent and is genuinely capable of brilliance against the average SPL team. However, even the most loyal McCourt supporter would be hard pushed to deny that he has not earned even one tenth of the support he generates from our supporters. He's Northern Irish, Catholic, "anti establishment looking" and is a throwback to the days of the player who would have a dozen pints of Guiness the night before the big match and still turn up looking like he's just woke up on a park bench but nationality and religion does not matter, it's what you produce for Celtic Football Club that matters. He will never be a regular for Celtic. He has no future at the club. He has 1 year left on his contract. Therefore, it would be mad not to want him to leave if a bid of £500,000 - £1.0m is offered. Call be old fashioned but I don't believe we should be paying a guy £250,000 - £500,000 a year for "ten minutes here or there". It's not wise in either a football sense or in an economic sense. He's lived the Celtic dream, he's had 4 years following in the footsteps of Willie Maley, Mr Stein, Jimmy Johnstone, Billy McNeill, Henrik Larsson et al and like Loovens he can leave with a clean conscience that he didn't allow the worst (former) Huns team for atleast 30 years to win 4IAR but we must progress and Champions League football beckons. Personally I believe Paddy McCourt is the most over rated player in our entire 125 year history and he must show some ambition for himself and get a regular game, Blackpool would be suitable.
