I'm confident that Efe partnered both Wilson and later Virgil as a first-choice CB under Lenny. I also think (although I may be wrong) that he only lost that status when Denayer joined under Ronny.

McManus and Caldwell were regularly and accurately described as complete bombshells and Strachan's success was in spite of them. If you take their careers as a whole (and not just Celtic), none of them could have laced his boots; but, even just as Celtic players and considering how maddeningly slow Maj had become at that point in his career, all 3 were worse than Maj for me.

    Aye he was.

Mowbray got shot of McManus and Caldwell and ran with Rogne and Josh Thompson, until he brought in Hooiveld who played about 5 games, then Majstorovic was brought in.

Rogne was number one center back at that time. Thompson just partnered him. He wasn't the first name on the team sheet in the heart of defence.

I think you didn't understand what I meant by the first choice center back. I didn't mean a half of a partnership. I meant the best center back at the club. Ambrose was never that. Majstorovic was during his stint.

Hahahaha we beat Man Utd and AC Milan whilst carrying Caldwell and McManus? I'm not saying they were amazing but they definitely played their part in those wins.

I'm not denying they were a bombshell at times but they were better than Majstorovic.

    Two centre backs.

Both were number 1 picks at the time.

    Not disputing that.

I'm saying that CCV is undeniably the best center back we have. VVD was undeniably the best center back we had when he was here. Wilson was the best during his term. Majstorovic was when he was here etc.

Majstorovic is the worst in that list.

OK, sounds like we got our wires crossed on that. I've got to say, however, that I think you need to edit that post for clarity, mate. For example, I would say (and I think many people would agree with me) that Liam Scales is currently a first-choice CB at Celtic. I don't think I can easily imagine anyone saying, "CCV is the first-choice CB at Celtic." I'm happy to be corrected if anyone can point me to an example of anyone saying something like that.

I don't agree that Caldwell or McManus (or Efe for that matter) were better than Majstorovic. I think we achieved what we did because we had a well-designed system, a team of fighters who stuck to that system and 3 incredible players in Boruc, Nakamura and McGeady.

Jeezo. Forgot about all that. Must have blanked it out as a trauma response.

I’ll never complain about Liam Scales again.

I consider KS a significant upgrade on Hart.
A much better shot stopper than Joe and there does seem to be a lot more confidence at set pieces.
Insane that we have 2 center halfs that cost a combined total of over 10M and both unlikely to get a sniff anytime soon.

    Top top keeper..

Great presence. Makes big saves at crucial times..

His distribution is fantastic. Even the swerve he gets when throwing balls out 30 yards round the opposition..

That save at 1-0 was crucial to us getting the win. Such a good goalkeeper
