If he wasn’t lynched in pre-season he’d have had a dozen appearances minimum for us already this season.

He is highly thought of within the club and I think you’ll probably find will have a part to play before the end of the season, especially with Forrest seriously toiling for any sort of form.

Fantastic talent, but just cannot see him having a big future with us.

I just see him being the next Islam Feruz

The Feruz comparison is harsh and lazy just because they've both been highly hyped black lads at Celtic imo.

Feruz left at the very first opportunity, ended up getting lost going out on loans, with no manager at any club he found himself at making him a regular pick, along with him getting himself into trouble with the police off the pitch. Last I heard about him he was selling hats.

Karamoko appears to be the complete opposite of that, and could still make an impact on our first team and actually have a football career.

My comparison has nothing to do with colour or personal life. * to even mention that tbh.

More to do with the fact they were both classed as the next big thing, but never made it, which is my opinion of KD.

There’s been a lot of highly rated youths since Feruz that haven’t broken through though.

Dembele might not make it, but claiming he’ll be the next Feruz is unfair. And their personal life is relevant because it impacts how they perform and there’s nothing to suggest Dembele will be similar to Feruz in that regard.

I think they're similar on the sense they've been hyped since they were 13/14 and there has been an anticipation and expectation. I dont see that in any other youngster. I hadn't heard of Ben Doak before he was on the bench for the first time. Feruz and Dembele were both hyped to a level of no other player.

Thats where the comparisons end though

it seems unfair - he had a good pre-season and got a nasty horrible tackle.
he never seems to make noise about leaving or his agent etc.
he deserves some luck and see how he come along.
given the way forrest is playing atm if he gets fit and into the team could be a valuable squad player and maybe offer a 1/2 year deal at the end of the season
he played a full 90mins at the weekend which was good

what makes him the next feruz?

ben doak is well talked about to many fans who take an interest in youth football / youth internationals etc - he played in the victory shied this year over in ireland he played well.

Dembele got talked about so much as in many youth tournaments he played he stood out like a sore thumb - hibernia trophy, foyle cup etc..

in terms of moving from youth football into professional football takes so many uncontrollable variables.. injuries, change in managers, attitude, big-time charlie ethos after being about the first time, agents feeding their heads with sweetie mice etc.

he has ability and if he can get into the first team and get some games under his belt i think he would thrive, he is still young and the club could easily give a 2-3 year contract.

with the league games getting more and more crucial for wins it will be hard to find game time, but if he is good enough he will be involved, and i think ange like and rates him. very unfortunate injury during pre-season.

vata is another player with hype but watching in youth games he seems to have great potential.

The younger players at the club are so important in terms of delicate management to keep them grounded and ensure they can reach their true potentials

A bit premature to hold that opinion already of KD.
In direct comparison, KD has achieved far more than Feruz ever did with us. He also appears to have a far better attitude.

Dembele is on the cusp, he has displayed his clear talent in SPL matches. He just needs to take the next step and make his mark and hold down a place in the squad. The last injury was a huge set back.

Hes only 18, but not sure if his contract is up this summer?

Maybe get him signed up and see how it goes, do think he'll run off to a london lower league team

Can I just confirm what my initial point was, as some people have kinda misread it.

My comparison was simply that both players were hyped up from a very young age, more so than any other young player that springs to mind.

My opinion is that Karamoko won't make it here, although he is some talent.

I used Feruz as an example, simply because of the hype surrounding him at a young age too. Not because both players are black, as someone mentioned, which is poor comment tbh, nor their private lives, which I know nothing about.

Comparison was simply 2 of possibly the most hyped young players that I remember, and, neither, in my opinion, will reach that level previously predicted.

Hope that makes it a bit clearer.

I think the issue may be the media / or reporters / podcasters etc who actually have no idea about youth development and the difficulties in progressing..

I think the latest stat in Ireland is 85% of players who sign for clubs in Scotland / England return home to Ireland within 2-3 years, frightening stat.. even just a player signing for a club at the age of 16/17 is an achievement in itself.

A footballers journey is so different.

They prob both carried 'hype' as they offered something different in terms of their playing style, if furez didnt play for scotland in the victory shield he may have been more grounded, or was his agent playing the game at the time etc.

I can recall a player from Ireland with hype (and rightly so) he ended up across the water and he was doing well, a injury cost him a professional career, very sad as this player for me was the 1 in 10 year players you rarely seen with your own eyes at a young age.

I hope dembele gets a chance to show what he can do, and i think under ange he would make him a better player, last season (dembele) done some good things in a transitional team, some parts of his ball he made the wrong decison and tried too much but ange can coach this out of him. if dembele sticks around he could be a key player for us and compete with abada.

sometimes the last thing these special players needs is built up hype from a young age, but that is media/social media etc etc - it takes a good grounded player to stay focused if they have the 3 A's - ability, attitude and application and personally keep away from agents until they have made it in the game so to speak

Not any player, only players that are 20 or under.

What’s happening with him? Is he back training yet?

And is he not out of contract this summer?
