I went through a stage of regular panic attacks a couple of years ago, the worst thing ever if you don't know what's happening, the feeling it leaves you with after is horrible aswell.

Had it plenty of times. Eyes are shut, sometimes you can think it's light outside but then when you come out the paralysis the room is pitch black. Hear folk walking next to your bed, think you're about to get stabbed. Hear voices. Covers shaking sometimes. Struggling to get a deep breath.

But the important thing is it's all in your head and you're going to be absolutely fine so when it happens just relax until you wake up or try fall back asleep.

i dont know if ive ever had sleep paralysis, but theres been a couple of times like people said before ive woke up in the middle of the night and like had an outer body experiance and hallucinations as well, some alot more freakier than others. hang my dressing gown on my door and i woke up one time and honestly thought it was a person walking over to me, didnt have a face but it was like a shadow or silouhette. other times ive woke up and the way things have been lying around my room made me think people were in with me, remember actually saying peoples names and trying to poke them and wake them up haha. dont know if its the same thing or what, but its the closest thing i can compare to it that i can remember!

my friend seems to get it alot and night terrors

It does sound a bit like sleep paralysis.

Believe I've had this a time or two. Always put it down to a near-ghost experience. Pretty * scary and I like to think I'm not a man to just lay there, petrified. :54:

On the topic of sleep, I had a really * up dream last night. It was extremely long and basically I was walking around a park and my teeth were falling out. All the teeth except for me back teeth were all gone and when the last of them fell out I was looking in a mirror and they were all moving. Then for some reason I couldn't close my mouth properly. The entire time I was carrying my teeth around because I wanted them put back in. I was also reaLy mad because people kept bumping inot me and I'd drop my teeth, then they'd steal them. Then I went into a McDonalds but I didn't order anything, this lady walk up to order something but the girl (who looked about 7 for some reason) who was at the till went on break and started eating a burrito. Then the dream skips forward and the little girl who worked at McDonalds was either unconscious or dead was being held by the woman who the girl hadn't taken the order from. The lady then yelled through tears "I'm never eating here again because the service is terrible!!!"

Then I woke up and checked to make sure I still had teeth.

Heart races, sometimes tingling in your hands and face and a feeling that your throat closes over and you can't breathe. That's how mines are but not necessarily all symptoms at the one time, like the guy said above about the paralysis, panic attacks are a mental thing, particularly the throat thing, it doesn't really close over, just your mind telling you that, not easy to believe that at the time though.

Btw, if anyone does have a panic attack, I'd recommend breathing out of your nose until your breathing regulates. I tried paper bags and alot more that the doctor recommended but a nurse once told me just to breath out my nose and it worked better than anything else.

First time I got it I was in a dream when sort of just drifting off asleep but not fully asleep, and thought my phone was ringing but was just hearing the same tune in my dream. Tried to waken to answer it but couldn't move then seen a black shadow of someone standing over my bed. Scared the * out of me. Next night after it was a Derren Brown show that explained it and I was watching the show thinking that's what happened me last night. Only really happened me when I was out partying all weekend and was sleep deprived.

It's weird i've just noticed this thread, I had it last night, but with a twist. You won't believe it, i was burgled while i was in sleep paralysis.

Can't even call the police i'm so embarrassed. haven't even told my parents.

i've been trying to lucid dream for a few weeks now, you have to go through sleep paralysis to reach lucidity. So im in my room, parents on holiday and its around 2.38am, perfect conditions to try a lucid dream. So I lay on my back, relax and think what i'm gonna lucid dream about.

have been laying on my back perfectly still for about 35 mins and I start to feel heavy and i can feel my self sinking into sleep paralysis. Suddenly, i hear a smashing sound coming from downstairs which startles me, however, it is too late. I try to move but have entered sleep paralysis, when i try to move i just feel strong vibrations throughout my body, im completely paralysed. I start to panic and i hear more crashing about downstairs. I try to call out but nothing comes out my mouth. I hear footsteps coming up the stairs, slowly, the footsteps get closer to my door. Im still trying to move but just vibrating. I look over to my door and my worst fears are answered

Some * in a balaclava sticks his head around the door. We look at each other and he stares at me for a good 5 mins, i'm still trying to move but still in sleep paralysis. I can only move my eyes. After 5mins, the robber enters my room still bemused as to why i am looking at him but not doing anything

But this doesn't seem to put him off. I watch helplessly as he raids my cupboards and steals my laptop and ipad. I start to rage!! Finally, i start to get some feeling back, i could just barely wiggle my fingers. I try to get up, but can only slightly move my arms. I'm now in a starfish position. The robber fills up his bag with my stuff then starts to leave my room. With all my might I turn my head to look at him. I muster up every ounce of effort and try and shout at him, but it back fired.....All that came out my mouth was a muffled inaudible slurr ...and also i poo'd myself from all the straining

10 mins after the robber left i snapped out of sleep paralysis. I've been robbed, theres * everywhere, and i can't tell anyone what has happened...What do I do?

TheMaestro8, just to let you know you don't have to go into sleep paralysis to go lucid. There's other ways. :icon_mrgreen: I know this cause I'm pro...

Aye the painting shows what happens to a lot of people during it, they seem to see a demonic like creature sit on their chest making it very difficult to breathe, and you can't move so you're *, just need to wait :54:

The woman in that picture looks like she croaked it weeks before.
