If i had a choice between the two Baros would be the one for me.....I think he would be a decent addition to the squad. I think Baros is one of those players who needs to feel wanted by both the manager and the fans which could explain his on/off form at Villa and Liverpool.....If he got that from Celtic then i am sure he could light up Celtic Park.

I would agree totally. I think a player plus cash deal would be fine if it is the right player and fits what we need. Certainly as said above Angel is crap and would be a disaster. Would love to see a deal with Gareth Barry though. He is a good player who could easily slot in at left back. Doubt O'Neill would go for that though as Barry is their Captain and easily one of their top players.

mon is at it i do beleive martin himself put stan in the 8-10 million bracket so to baulk at 7 million would be a little bit rich or contradictory, maybe he'll do the right thing and give us 15 million for great old time sake.  :62:

Angel is * and Baros is decent (not as good as Magic) and besides Baros isnt the type of player Strachan is after up front. I'd also speculate that noone at villa would get into the Celtic team full stop so * them.

Angle plus 3mil for Petrov, and spend that 3mil to get Graveson? Not a bad idea.

Dont like Angel, never have done. Might do a job up here though. As far Baros we have ansolutley NO chance of signing him. Shame though, think the game up he would suite him perfect!

We certainly won't get Baros and its highly unlikely we'll get either Angel or Gravesen but it does amuse me when people slate some of these guys as poor players we don't need. We have Telfer, McManus, Caldwell, Miller and Magic playing regularly, we should be celebrating if ANY of these guys signed. If any of you don't want these guys then i hate to think of your reaction to our signings so far this summer

Angel is good. He's good enough to cut it at CP. He's better than Miller and Magic

Barry, Davis, Mellberg, Baros and Laursen would all walk into the Celtic side imo

Talk of Baros and £3m is dreamland, Baros cost them £6.5m in the first place, I'd be suprised if Petrov ended up going for that sum, nevermind a deal with another £3m thrown in on top!

Would agree that Barry,Mellberg and laursen probably would and probably Baros but not Davis, Hendrie as well would probably do a good job for us.

Agree on the Second paragraph theres no chance of that happening.

It shows you what the English game is like though Gary McSheffrey goes from Coventry to Birmingham for 4 million pounds but Real Madrid only want 2 million for someone of the quality of Graveson and surely if McSheffrey can go to Birmingham for 4 Million, Then Villa can splash out 7 or 8 for Petrov

This is what Lawwell said on the deal about Petrov Going(He defo wants to keep Stan+build the team around him!!) and Angel coming-----

Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell insists midfielder Stilian Petrov is going nowhere - but has confirmed Thomas Gravesen's interest in joining the Hoops.

Bulgaria international Petrov handed in an official transfer request at the end of last season, which was rejected.

But, after the recent appointment of former Celtic boss Martin O'Neill at Aston Villa, the 27-year-old has been strongly linked with a possible deal which could see Juan Pablo Angel move in the opposite direction. However, Lawwell said: "It is very simple - we do not want to sell him."

He added: "As for Angel, that is somebody putting two and two together - there has been no discussion about that.

"I repeat, at this stage in the game, we do not want to sell Stilian.

"We want to hang on to him. We want him for the Champions League and we want to strengthen around him. That is where we are at."

But the Parkhead chief executive has confirmed his interest in Real Madrid midfielder Gravesen after his agent, John Sivabaek, claimed the ex-Everton man was "warm" on the idea of moving to Glasgow.

Lawwell told the Daily Ranger: "There is nothing more I can say other than what Sivabaek has already told you.

"The guy likes Celtic but that is not to say we will get a deal done.

"There is a responsibility for us to spend the fans' money properly but Gravesen is keen, he likes Celtic and we will wait and see what happens. It is good to know we are still in with a chance, but I do not want to say any more at this stage."

I agree that Baros would cost roughly 6 million. Gareth Barry and Baros would get into the Celtic side, but the rest are unproven.

Celtic are only asking for a fair price for Stan, taking into account certain transfers in the Prem.

Have Celtic signed any Villa player? No. End of, its just the media making up rumours. If MON wants to offload players, thats up to him and its up to us if we're interested. Your suggesting we'll click our fingers if MON wants to get of duds.
