Any more news on him recently? Watched a few Red Bulls games a few months back, really skilful and works hard. Remember seeing him crack the bar with an overhead kick as well!

would love an american celt. Agudelo is definitely interesting as a young guy with potential, BUT beware the american media's ability to overhype our own

I'd take him if we had the chance. Would rather have Altidore, doing amazing now he has settled in a league, seems to have found his level. The Dutch league is still better than the SPL so he would do well here I reckon, big physical player.

i trust Lennon's judgement. if he says he is impressed with the lhad, it can only be a good thing. hopefully a loan deal with an option to buy similar to Miku. let's see which of them really wants to stay.

Aye, doubt the MLS would loan out a young player though. If he came here and flopped then that would basically be him written off although if he is any good then theyd probably be happy to loan him.

    Please please please

I have been dying for an American Celt and I am a huge Agudelo fan, probably my 2nd favorite young American player behind Brek Shea.

If Lennon, Parker and John Park think he is good then he is 100% certain to be a brilliant young player, so i'm pleased with this, but how can we sign him - is he not under contract with a club but just training here?

Not sure how the MLS system works, but do players not belong to "them" as opposed to a club per say?

there's got to be something about the lhad to draw praise such as that from Lennon.

i hate the way the MLS operates. the other sports in the US can do it as they're considered the best league in the world or hold very little international interest. hard to use such rulings in football when no one else is playing the same ball game (ah-thank you).

    :97:

So they just allocate players out to different teams?

I know in American football they give the best young players to the worst sides, which is a great idea imo, but i'm really not sure about the MLS.

Hope we sign him anyway, the US team is far better than the Scottish national team and he scored for them aged only 17. From his interview he seems like a cool level headed guy as well so I can only see positives in this.

Haha, not quite ''give'' the best players out. The worst teams in the league get the first pick in the draft, so they get first dibs on any college player they want... usually the best of course. Same with the NBA and MLS. Maurice Edu for example was the number 1 pick in the 2007 Draft. Big Dom Cervi believe it or not was the 12th pick in the 2008 Draft.

Agudelo came up through the ranks at New York, he didn't go through the draft.

    Looks skilful.

Beginning to wonder though if we haven't got a bit TOO much competition for the striker role.

We have Hooper, Watt, Miku, Lassad, Stokesy, Sammy and maybe Agudelo.

And sometimes we're only playing one striker.

Competition in the squad is great, but you've got to find a balance between motivation and frustration. Seven good players competing for one or two positions seems excessive.

Lassad and Miku can also play out on the right, if I'm not mistaken, so I think we could still accommodate Agudelo if he was good enough and our coaching staff like the look of him.

Question ought to be is he better than what we currently have. If the answer is yes then get him in. Likewise if he is on a par with what we currently have but has bags more potential get him in.

Players unaffiliated with any club go through the draft system. Agudelo wasn't allocated since he was brought up through New York's youth system. Most of the best American talents of the past 2-3 years have gone this route.
