5.5m was the widely used number. I can't believe that tbh. Maybe with a 20% add on.

Problem is, we're on the verge it seems of adding a CB this week with Duffy rumoured to be close.

So with that in mind, if Brendan is going to go with a back two then you've got Erik and Duffy which would leave Jozo on the bench even if fit. Unless a 3-5-2 is under serious consideration from Brendan then the three could play together, but that then takes Lustig out of the equation.

Where exactly is the problem? You're saying you would rather just have 2 quality CB's than 3?

When asked about Joso's fee Ronny laughed and said "Nowhere near £4M"
It will be on Celtic TV somewhere, will look tomorrow if I remember and post the clip here

Im hoping he comes back from his injury ok. Sure he will. Calm, decent on the ball, seemed to have good positional awareness, good in the air,and no slouch. Nothing wrong with physique btw. 6'3" and pretty solid build. He'll be good with erik sure of it. No sure if they have played together, maybe one game?? I'd move erik to right CB let him play left CB

I have no problem, I'm just saying I don't think Lustig/Simunovic will be happy with a place on the bench.

Ah cool.As we're needing another quality CB for the season Id be surprised if we don't bring one in before the deadline for the Astana games.

Yeah I'm almost certain (and said a few times on here) that the figure of 5.5millon originally came from the Zagreb chairman. Who would have been talking in euros (at the initial time no currency was noted) and our media just slapped a £ sign in front of it.

At the time of signing 5.5million euro in sure was between 3.5 and 4million pounds.

Assume we are cheap * as always and will have used add ons, then the ronny comment would have me think initial fee would be under 2million pounds with add one taking it to 3.5million pounds.

No chance we spent near 6 million on a player and peter lawwell didn't make a song and dance about it.

Dont think it will matter now, the Astana games are 6 days and 13 days away. Would be madness to play a new centre-half in them.

As for his injury, if he is due back on the 15th August, I would rather wait another 2 weeks. He came back twice from injury last year only to * it up again. Be it this is now the injury dealt with, but would rather give him the extra week or two than push him back in.

Also would take Duffy as well, the option to use duffy, erik and jozo with mccart as the 4th choice is ideal.
    Punt Ambrose and boyata.
Lustig and Tierney can clearly do something in a back 3 as well.

Amazing what one signing at the back can do when you get rid of the * and everyone fit.

    Would keep Boyata.

Was McCart not a squad player for the youth teams? dont know why people are suggesting him at all, O'Connell would get a game before him.

3 key defenders and a youth to actually get game time and not warm a bench seems ideal to me. Mccart over O'Connell simply because I think O'Connell should have already made that impact, but hasn't. So lets see what the next youth talent has? Seemed alright in pre season so far.

Young Irish lad Fiacre Kelleher is a well talented lad. McCart also I think both are better than O'Connell, I would obviously play both before Ambrose. O'Connell seems to panic a bit. McCart did ok but Kelleher seems really comfy on the ball, good positioning and strong with the head.

Fiacre Kelleher joined Celtic in December 2012 and initially settled into the U17s squad.
The Irishman has since made a claim for a regular place in the Development Squad, making his first start at home to St Johnstone last season where he delivered a strong and commanding performance.
This was followed by a number of appearances this campaign where he has linked up with his countryman and fellow defender, Eoghan O'Connell.
Kelleher is a youth internationalist with the Republic of Ireland and has represented them at U15s and U17s level.

Can't wait to have big Jozo back. Has a great head on his shoulders, loves the club and interacting with fans. Can't wait to see a fully fit Jozo partner with Erik at the back. Really think Jozo's going to be something special if he can stay fit.
