Would he even pass the medical, he failed one in the summer didn't he. I wish him all the best and if he can get another couple of seasons good luck to him but I wouldn't be surprised if he retires early.

 

FREED Celtic defender Jozo Simunovic could resurrect his career in the Bundesliga after almost a year in the football wilderness after entering into talks with both Stuttgart and Augsburg.

The 26-year-old hasn't kicked a ball since last February when Celtic were defeated 3-1 at home by FC Copenhagen in the Europa League.


He was surprisingly released by Hoops boss Neil Lennon at the end of the season and has been without a club since.

Simunovic has seen three moves collapse due to concerns about his long-term fitness when two Turkish sides Trabzonspor and Goztepe, then Croatian club Rijeka all pulled out after medical check-ups.

Simunovic had a knee operation last year at Celtic and also suffered knee ligament damage four years ago when he missed a huge chunk of the season.

However, he's wanted by both Stuttgart and Augsburg, who both sit mid-table in the top German league.


The stopper helped the Hoops to five titles in a row during the time he spent at the club, following his move from Dinamo Zagreb and Simunovic also picked up three Scottish Cups and three League Cups during his time in Glasgow.

 

Hope one of those works out for him.

Hindsight is a great thing but no doubt he'd have served us better than Duffy has.

 

Glass knee's and could be a diddy but no doubt he us better than Duffy and Bitton by some distance..

Neither are good enough

 

How the * has he still not got a club? He’s definitely good enough to play somewhere.

Surely it’s better to even sign a 1 year deal somewhere that to sit and earn nothing. Even a per-match deal or something.

 

My guess is he realised it was best to spend a year recovering, let the body heal and then go back. Probably better for the longevity of his career.

 

Needs to pass a medical first though.
