So many nonsense have been written about all this.

I'll try to be neutral as possible. Lets put is simple as this. Is Šimunović starter material? No. Could he be? Absolutely.

He is young player with good physical attributes. In theory he has everything that modern cb needs to have. Problem is that it didn't really show in real life situations. He makes silly mistakes but with proper coaching he might turn that around very soon. Keep in mind that Dinamo has been playing without proper coach for the last 2 seasons. We are coached by president's brother.

Croats like to exaggerate and since Mamić brothers are public enemy number one every move of their gets ridiculed to the extremes.

The truth about Šimunović is somewhere in the middle. Good potential cb who won't make an instant impact. Currently he is midtable HNL or SPL material but with the potential to outgrow both of our leagues. Honestly i expected him to be loaned out to our reserve team Lokomotiva because Dinamo already signed Gordon Schildenfeld to replace him and he would be 4th choice cb if we were injury free at the start of the season. I guess this works out better for everyone. He needed club change and he wouldn't be getting coaching or playing time here.

I've seen many posts here questioning why we are selling him. You need to understand that Dinamo isn't your usual club. Its rich club that doesn't really spend. Attendances and marketing equal for like 0.0001 of yearly budget. We exist only to sell and senior team is necessary evil. Thing with Dinamo is that we always have 2, 3 world class players soon to be playing in Real Madrid or Barca and 6, 7 complete hacks that will be to Portuguese division 2 in 6 months. We sell world class youngsters and imeditely replace them with unknown foreigners of dubious quality who we of course overpay. Attendances have been 500-1000 people. As soon as Mamić's went to jail we had 25k on first home game. They are currently out on parole so its back to usual emptyness. They will now fill the stadium for champions league with sponsor tickets but the very next league game will have 500 people. Everything about how this club is run is wrong and logic cannot be applied when trying to reason why dinamo is doing something. If we didn't qualify for Champions League we'd sell players for 20-30 millions and stupid media would again "sing" the praises for how great the Mamić is. As if selling the players is what matters is football and not the results. Everything around the club is so messed up that i'd need 5 pages to explain.

Anyway.. good luck to Jozo and i hope that he really develops to a player that we all hoped he will became at Dinamo. National team could really use some center backs.

If that's the case I hope the prices mentioned are alot lower in reality.

No offence but I wouldn't want us to pay upwards of £4m for Dinamo Zagreb's 4th choice centre half. No matter how much potential he might seem to have. That is alot of money for us nowadays, as I'm sure you are aware.

We need someone to make near enough an instant impact.

I'm praying this goes against my gut feeling, like most transfer do, but in the opposite way. I usually sit with optimism sure that the new guy is going to be the shiz and tear things up, when they in actual fact turn out to be Derk Boaconstricter. In this case i've looked into my optimism banks and they've been found empty (all spent in the run-up to the Malmo 2nd leg!). Whereas usually we have conjecture, a mix of opinions and the odd bit of youtube, in this case, poor Jozo seems to have the odds firmly stacked against him. I was keen to see him sign, assuming our apparent eagerness as evidence of a player in waiting, but hearing from folk that have seen him, looking at the fee and the lack of any on-paper form, i just can't see the up-side :-(

I'll be so, so happy if this guy proves me wrong. So happy. Hate being so down, it just feels like Derk's wee bro is heading our way.

Been catching up on the stuff on this lad. Can't believe some of the values quoted, especially as oor Peter was supposed to have gone over and negotiated the deal. Then, I saw a light...and a name came to me of a young CB we signed for £5m... Rafael Scheidt. He lived up to his surname, played 3 games for us then left for his Brazilian homeland.

Please don't let this be a project. Please let all the doubters/neg comments be wrong and please, please Peter, I hope you haven't spent all of VVD's profit on this young lad....assuming, that is, VVD leaves.

    Nowhere near £5M...
From whispers I hear, around £3M with 40% sell on fee...
But just whispers. Certainly not £8M!!!
I think we would go to the Championship down south with that money, maybe even Scandinavian market.

We also have the African Beckenbauer, available for a measly £8m, interested?
