Think him signing will hinge on 2 factors.

1- Us making the champions league.
2- Benfica offering him no assurances of game time.

 

I think I actually fancy him.

 

If we win the league and guarantee Champions League group stage football then that will most likely be the deciding factor in him signing for us at the end of the season. If we dont have CL football to offer him then id say its 50/50 whether he will stay or not.

 

Aye if we can offer CL football then we'll have done all we can. If he chooses not to sign after that it's obviously because he fancies his chances with Benfica, and I wouldn't blame him for that. I do have a sneaky feeling he'll be here if we get CL football though.

 

CELTIC are set to step up signing talks with loan stars Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers.

The Hoops want to trigger the £6million buy option for the Benfica winger and are keen on a deal for the Spurs stopper.

Boss Ange Postecoglou hopes both will sign — but says he won’t waste his time if he feels either would rather leave.

He said: “Those discussions will be taking place over the course of the next period with Michael Nicholson at the forefront of that.

“It’ll take care of itself. If I say we’re closer regarding them, it’s as if something’s happened.

“We all live in a romanticised version of life but it usually comes down to what drives the individual.

“Finances come into it, and other factors can influence the decision. I’m not going to try and convince anyone to stay.

“If you don’t understand how special it is to be a part of this place, nothing I’m going to say will change that.

“I know Cam and Jota love representing this l club. They’re contributing right now and that’s all I need to see.”

Jota, 22, and Carter-Vickers have become mainstays since arriving on loan.

Hoops chiefs included a purchase option when they landed Jota from Benfica.

Carter-Vickers, 24, doesn’t appear to have a long-term future at Spurs.

 

Sounds to me like they might be stalling on signing: "finances", "other factors". Ange is rolling out a similar line he gave when Christie was still here. Fingers crossed we get it done.
