They know fine rightly that Jota is a money spinner in the making. As soon as his impact and ability were apparent, they wouldve opened contract talks and got him signed up asap.

They wouldnt have risked "holding off" or waiting until the summer.

Thats my opinion anyway.

Nothing to be done. Just enjoy him while hes here, get ccv signed up, and use that 6.5, chuck another couple m's on top and get a replacement in for next season.

 

If doesn't happen this window, which I'm doubtful it will, it definitely won't happen in the summer.

 

Can't see it happening but live in hope. Mental that Benfica couldn't see his talent till he played a few games here though. Boy is absolute class.

In fairness if Celtic offer the money benfica can't refuse the option to buy clause is a contract between the club's much like a release clause so if a fee is met then it comes down to the player. That being said we can only hope his head is turned through playing week in week out and being one of the main men at the club

He’s a Benfica fan, so it’s obviously a difficult decision for him. Would any of us choose to sign for another club if Celtic made it clear that they wanted us back?

I guess it comes down to whether he wants to reward us for having faith in him. It could come down to CL football imo. That’s a massive platform for him and one of the places where Benfica have an advantage. They’re in it every year when we struggle to qualify.
