Said this before but I wouldn't expect miracles from him straight away.

The move to Saudi really set him back footballing wise and then clearly it's not worked out at Rennes.

I don't think it's the case of he's already made his money like happens with so many young players. Think he will be fine coming home but won't be over night. Might even be next season before we see our Jota as we remember him.

Rodgers always takes his time integrating people. He's not ange who will chuck them in. Took half a season to integrate trusty. Jota will be the same.

Will be delighted to see him back. Very much a cult hero player here, as well as being a pler.

Might take a bit of time to get up to speed. I can imagine he’ll be desperate to make an impression, which can sometimes work against a player.

Sinclair and Dembele first time around . Dembele was starting the qualifiers in July/August iirc at 19/20 and hun skelping by August . Sinclair was in the team about 24 hours after he signed.
I agree generally though , but Jota may be seen as that good/ready made as Sinclair was.

Celtic have agreed terms with Jota over a stunning return to Parkhead from Rennes, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that an £8million deal is now all but done, and advanced talks will continue over the coming days to iron out details

Brendan Rodgers had targeted the signing of a new left-midfielder as a priority in the January transfer window and was a leading voice behind the deal.

Football Insider revealed earlier this month that Celtic would look to sign a replacement for Luis Palma if he leaves the club, and his departure is drawing nearer.

The 25-year-old Jota, meanwhile, is said to be keen on a return to Glasgow where he is still held in high esteem by the fans 18 months after his departure.

A then Scottish record sale of £25million secured Celtic an important influx of cash, and his return for around a third of that price is seen as a huge coup.

Jota left Al-Ittihad to join Rennes just six months ago, but has struggled to establish himself in the side, starting just three of his ten appearances for the club.

As a result, the opportunity to return to Celtic is seen as a chance for him to find his feet in club football again in front of a crowd who know all about his talents

The Portuguese winger made 83 appearances during his time in Glasgow, scored 28 goals, provided 26 assists, and became a favourite under Ange Postecoglou.

During that time, he lifted two Scottish Premiership titles, two Scottish League Cups and one Scottish Cup, and will be hoping to add more to his cabinet this season.

Still only 25. Plenty of time for him to find his groove again. He’s just a guy who needs to feel the love I reckon. One rendition of JOTW and he’ll be back to his old self.

I remember the Dembele coming on against Astana at 1-1. Great piece of play to win the penalty then converts it for 2-1.

I distinctly remember the impression he made on us that day and the celebrations after made such an impression on him. I don’t think he realised what it would be like until that.

And the rest, as they say, is history.

He's a huge goal threat , gets into the box and has good movement when the ball is crossed from the other wing , a lot of his goals for us were crossed in by Abada or Maeda and he's in the middle for a tap in or a header.

Did he not score his first Celtic goal against Raith Rovers in the league cup? Ironic we will be playing them in a couple of weeks.

Meanwhile, around 18 months after his £25m move from Celtic to Saudi Pro League side Al Ittihad, Jota is set to return to the Scottish champions.

The 25-year-old is heading in the opposite direction to Kyogo, joining Celtic from Rennes for around £8m.

Rodgers also spoke about former Celtic winger Jota, who is poised to make a return from Rennes to the Scottish champions in a separate deal.

Jota was sold to Saudi club Al Ittihad for a club record fee only 18 months ago but had an unhappy time in the Middle East and moved to France, where he is not part of Jorge Sampaoli’s plans.

“It’s not finalised yet”, Rodgers said. “But a player who clearly would be an incredible addition to our squad given what he’s done here before and his qualities.

“Hopefully we can complete that in the next 24 hours.”

People concerned he’s not the same player is understandable I get it but sometimes it’s bad fortune, ill timing, managers and set ups that don’t click. Look at the way BR utilises Kyogo compared to Ange. The way I see it, we’re lucky af Jota has had the misfortune of limited game time and all sorts of other pish or we wouldn’t be getting him back. I’ve no doubt once he’s up to speed he’ll be the Jota we’ve come to know, probably better with the added BR treatment.

That's my sort of grumble and why I'm no as buzzing..

Wanted a pacey, freshness on the wing. Jota was fantastic and hopefully is again but does he have the hunger of coasting it on silly dough in the middle east and France? We'll see..
