It’s weird that the investment fund put so much into the league to get foreign players but then have a rule limiting foreign players. Where’s the logic in that?

Getting Saudi level wages whilst not needing to play in Saudi is a dream tbh.

He could do far better than Fenerbache but I doubt he has much choice currently.

I was thinking that myself. It's like the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing makes no sense.

The Record seem to have an unhealthy obsession with the wee man. Literally every day they have another piece on his supposed Saudi 'nightmare' and how he has 'failed'. They even have the cheek to lump him in with that big carthorse Bassey, neglecting of course to mention that the Saudi were trying to loan Jota so they could bring in another superstar such as Mo Salah whereas Ajax wanted rid of Bassey because he was......well......crap basically. I did wonder if the Record was giving this story so much (negative)press in order to cast a dim light on Celtic's quality of player and as a 'warning' to potential buyers. I'm sure that's not the case though.....

Aye noticed that earlier this morning in the Times another Article regarding Jota didn’t even give it the time of day By clicking it’s becoming Embarrassing “Jota must sweat until January for move” or some nonsense like that

If he moves on a loan, does he still get another signing on fee? Is it even possible for him to move on loan because of them foreign players rule or does he have to move permanently?

They forget that he was basically the best player in this country so what does that say about everyone else

May I suggest not drinking the conspiracy stew?

Jota's story is newsworthy — in part *because* of the Salah link. It's part of the broader narrative about the disruptive influence of Saudi sovereign wealth in football. Of course it's * interesting.

That would be fine. The Record however are not constantly churning out pieces on Jota for that reason though, hence ridiculous headlines such as JOTA SLAPPED IN THE FACE AS CELTIC HERO'S TRANSFER INSULTS EXTEND TO CLUB HE DOESN'T EVEN PLAY FOR. That is the guff that has been put out every day for about 3 weeks now and it is not being stuck out there as part of the wider issue of Saudi influence in football.

You could just not buy or read the Daily Record?

    Worked for me for years.

They don’t forget how good he was at all. In fact, it haunts them. That’s their issue.

I don't buy it but the output is still there and gets passed around and talked about. Expecting the sports media of a country to produce something insightful or even just something coherent shouldn't be too much to ask. Just ignoring this shouldn't be the ideal way of dealing with it when it isn't us that are the problem.

Daily Record has been a pile of made up garbage as long as I can remember. That's the whole paper, not just the sports section.

Never going to change. I wouldn't even go to the bother of ignoring it.

The boy has a point. I don’t buy a paper or even follow the Record on Twitter but they’ll have a story about Jota with some negative headline that pops up every other day.
