Football is genuinely at the point now were i won’t watch it outwith Celtic. The EPL money machine was bad enough, this is a step too far man. Sickening.

    Reported fee of 23.2 million.

Take 30% off that, the £6m we paid less than 12 months ago and the profit isn’t great for one of our biggest assets.

Don’t think we should hold onto players who want to go though. However, as I expected, this transfer window could see a big overhaul of players. Jota might be the first to go but he won’t be the last.

Far too early to start complaining but I really hope we have some big targets being lined up in the background.

Holm and Tilio very much projects. We need starters.

    £20m would be a * disgrace of a deal.

Should be at least half of that again.

Jota is several levels above Maeda as a footballer.

Disgraceful, especially with the 30% sell on for Benfica

£17.2m or 400% of our initial investment isn't a bad profit by any stretch of an imagination.

This is the reality of modern football and I don't think he'll be the last of our big players to go this summer. This is the by-product of success unfortunately.

The only bad thing about this is inserting a % sell-on isn't likely to net us big money in future, given most clubs won't be looking in Saudi for talent.

"Already handed a sizeable budget for signings, Brendan Rodgers will be handed much of the Jota profit - after Benfica claim a hefty sell-on fee - to re-invest in the squad. Celtic have already signed 20-year-old Norwegian midfielder Odin Thiago Holm and have now agreed terms with Australian international winger Marco Tilio.:

There’s absolutely no chance we are selling a key player with 4 years left on his deal for 20 million to a state owned club

Think Maeda is perfect for an Angeball side, but as a winger in almost any other side Jota is easily better.

If he's going to Saudi Arabia, it needs to be for £25 million minimum, and even then that'd be slightly underwhelming.

£20 million would be poor business from us.

Possibly the future might mean a move within SA will be where the big money will be

Must be the same idiots in charge of sales as always, if we’re willing to accept £20-25m for Jota.

After all the money being flung about from this Saudi league and we end up getting bumped, should be holding strong here and selling him for a much larger fee considering they have the money, benfica sell on and he has the years left on his deal.

I would have wanted a bit more to be honest. Closer to £30m probably. I’m actually not massively concerned about him leaving, if he does indeed go that is. I’d prefer if he stayed another year as I do think he is a quality player, but as the season went on, I think he tailed off a lot. He started the season unbelievably well in my opinion, and although his numbers didn’t really dip, I felt his overall play did over the course.
