Think it's unlikely that he'll get game time at the World Cup, but it's a great opportunity to be involved and to train with some top quality players.

    Only if he gets injured.

Him getting game time for Portugal will only raise his profile.

He's not staying here forever so I want his value to sky rocket.

He has the ability to play in any top flight in the world and for a decent team, too.

I'm chuffed for him. I'm glad he is being recognised despite playing in a farmer's league.

His price was £30m before for me. If he gets any sort of game time in the World Cup, you can add another £10m onto that. *, imagine he goes and plays well.

Thought there was no chance, well done to him and well done to their manager for not overlooking a Scottish based player

This will be a real boost for Jota too and being honest us as a club.

If guys like Jota in particular who plays for one of the bigger international sides, certainly in terms of producing talented players sought after by teams in top leagues, then it sends out a message to players that you can play for Celtic and be in a good international team.
Juranovic is similar but the difference for me with Jota is that younger talent.

Even CCV as well if he’s playing for USA while starting at Celtic, it again sends a message to talented players in MLS that we could be a good option for a move to Europe.

On a more pressing issue I hope he’s fit for tomorrow we could do with him back for the games before the World Cup.

Think it's very unlikely he'll make the final cut, I saw it reported to be a list of 55 that needs cut to 26

Yes, 55 players and 26 will make the cut.

3 players in direct competition with him have left the squad in the last couple of months: Rafa Silva (retired from international football), Diogo Jota (injured) and Pedro Neto (injured).

Who else competes with him for the left/right wing?

At least theoretically these are his competitors (I may be missing someone):

Bernardo Silva (City), Rafael Leão (Milan), Otávio (Porto), João Mário (Benfica), Ricardo Horta (Braga), Gonçalo Guedes (Wolverhampton), Cristiano Ronaldo (Man. United), João Félix (Atlético Madrid), Pedro Gonçalves (Sporting), Francisco Trincão (Sporting) and Daniel Podence (Wolverhampton).

Even if he doesn't make the squad he can see that performing for us certainly gets him recognition that's what we want keep his performance levels up

Happy enough that he's being recognised by the NT. Big plus for us in a few ways. His value, if ever selected, will shoot up if we were to cash in. It could also be key to keeping him here longer, if we don't, if they are willing to overlook the level of our domestic league and have him in mind for their national team.

Great experience for him being in amongst some great players, even if only for a training camp.

Yeah can't see him going, which would have been amazing, but at least he's had a little tip of the hat for his form.

Realistically Leao is the standout for that position..

Silva, Ronaldo, Felix and Trincao all play either up, just off or off the right. Even Joao Mario and Horta, they no more central 10 types?

I don't think Jota will make it in (surprised he's even been included in the preliminary squad) but a great confidence booster nonetheless..
