CELTIC are eyeing a stunning move for Jota - as Rennes close in on a £10million deal for Kyogo Furuhashi.

The Ligue 1 side hope to seal a deal for the Japanese striker after the Hoops qualified for the Champions League knockouts

But SunSport understands Celtic could do more business with Rennes as they explore the possibility of bringing Jota back.

The Portuguese winger is expected to leave the French side this month and Brendan Rodgers could offer him a sensational Parkhead return.

Jota left Celtic for Saudi side Al-Ittihad in the summer of 2023 in a life-changing £25m move.

His spell in the Middle East didn't work out and Jota moved to Rennes for around £9m last summer

The 25-year-old had made ten appearances this season but is likely to move this month - and Celtic could land him.

Would love him back but it does seem a bit like french media putting 2 and 2 together and getting 12.

Surely we are not selling our number 1 striker to get a player they don't want.

Just sign Jota without letting Kyogo go .....unless we already have a striker lined up

If it's being discussed "separately" then that doesn't sound like the £10m + Jota deal people are making out? Sounds like whatever we pay for Jota is entirely separate to the £10m we'd get for Kyogo?

We know we're desperate for wingers.. Jota is a player we know has outstanding ability...if kyogo is allowed to go we must have something lined up or we're putting maeda through the middle.

Ever since Rodgers 1st game back v Yokohama when Maeda scored a hat trick iv been of the belief he's the best fit for the striker role. The problem is, poor recruitment of wide players over the past 18 months, bar Khun who essential replaced Abada has ment we've constantly had to use Maeda as a winger. Signing Jota would end that necessity.

Sky Sports News understands an offer is on the table, with the possibility of Jota returning to Glasgow also being discussed separately

Sky Sports News understands Celtic would be open to a return for winger Jota, who has been frozen out at Rennes following his move in the summer from Al-Ittihad. The Hoops are exploring the possibility of a deal for Jota, separately.

This screams of absolute pish. Source looks to be speculation from a French newspaper equivalent of "Metro" here. Can't see it happening.

    Jota would be amazing.
Jota is a big game player as we know, someone we can count on to do the business, and he would hit the ground running.

Kyogo and Jota are a perfect combination, bringing Jota back but letting Kyogo go doesn't make sense.

Could be a loan to buy with Jota. Then we pay big money now for someone like Barry.

I thjnk we'd want a look at Jota given the rumours about his fitness. Don't even think they're rumours tbh...evidently not fit.

TBH, if I had to pick between Jota and Kyogo, it's Kyogo.

    This.
Wingers far less of an issue than striker.
Kyogo going leaves us desperately short, Jota adds to already large pool of players.
What Jota will we get? the former hoops favourite or the guy that's totally fallen out with 2 successive teams and coaches due to fitness issues?

I'd take the punt on Jota, don't get me wrong - but not if it means we have Idah, Maeda and Kenny as striker options.

Tbf Jota was brilliant for Giakomakis too - his crossing in theory should be ideal for someone like Idah.
