He is only 18, you cannot judge a person on a few games too

Come on. The guy is 18 years old FFS. You cant blame our pish form on this guy. At 18 he is not perfect. Has a lot to work on. But he has got time to work on it and i reckon he'll be good for us in the future. If Mowbray throws him into the centre of defence when hes not ready for first team action then that says more about Mowbray than Thompson.

imo i think he has clearly shown that he can defend espically for a 18 year old.

To me he looks alot more sound when it comes to defending than Loovens and o'dea do.

I agree that he needs to work on his pace. However sometimes you can get by with a lack of paceas a defender if you are technically sound at defending. Which i think he has shown

Celtic fans dont deserve awards from uefa we're no better than huns. Slaughtering an 18 year old after putting up with mcmanus for years. Disgraceful and distasteful i bet your the same fans who embarrass our club by cheering when samaras is substituted. The boy has done all thats been asked of him. And as for criticising the one boruc pulled out the net do you remember caldwell scored 3 own goals. He has mistakes to make to become a better player if he learns from the mistakes it will make him a better player.

I pointed out that mistake to people that think he's been faultless.

We're quick to jump on players for mistakes during the heat of the game but when a manager makes them it's a different story.

    Good post

would have him over loovens any day. Seen it last night - loovens was marking Kyle and got bullied off him every time they challenged, whereas, when thompson came on he marked Kyle and i think he won every header/tackle he had to make in that 40 minutes he had on the pitch

How did I know this thread was coming :56:

How much will someone bet me there will be the EXACT same thread about Ki by next week? Kamara in a fortnight? and Braafheid in 3 weeks once everyone says he's the next Roberto Carlos before slaughtering him?

I must say it is very, very predictable.

for an 18 year walk in to what is quite possibly the worst defensive line in Scotland and be singled out as a failure is a joke to be honest.. the boy needs to develop obviously, and yes the Celtic first team is not the place to do it, but thats no reason to call it a day for the boy.

Really? Hmm .. Personally i don't rate Loovens at all , frequently gets bullied of the ball , rarley picks out a good pass , generally * himself in posession .. Give me Josh Thompson and Hooiveld any day!! That's my opinion though!

I rate him. He has an a good sense of position and aura of dominance and calm about him, something O'Dea has never had. If he was at a club where he played every game for the next two years he would be a great player. Problem is he might end up rotting on the bench.
