I'm not sure why everyone is so confident of us upping our bid. It seems to me that it was between Russel or Brozek. I think we bid the same amount for Russel that Brozeks loan will cost us and with that rejected opted for Brozek.

the loan won't have cost anywhere near 500k considering there is a buy out clause that is only 500k in his contract

Should offer them £800k and a choice of Ras, Ibrahim or maybe even Bangura on loan.

I'd buy him then loan him back to United for the rest of the season.

Dundee tele has said utd want 1.5 mil

Cardiff join Celtic in race for Russell
Dundee United could face two late bids to take striker Johnny Russell away from Tannadice before the transfer window slams shut tomorrow night (writes Tom Duthie).
Celtic have already had two verbal offers knocked back and the Evening Telegraph can reveal English League Cup finalists Cardiff City could also make a move in the next 24 hours.
The 20-year-old, however, will be going nowhere unless one of the two come up with a £1.5 million bid.

For the full story, get tonight's Evening Telegraph.

Very promising young player. Someone mentioned signing him then loaning him back to United earlier in the thread which might actually be a good idea. Would assure him first team football until the rest of the season, wouldn't leave United in limbo and may put the fee down a bit.

Ah right maybe I read 500k and misunderstood that to be what we were paying for the loan.

If it meant losing him to Cardiff I'd take him now. We lose the chance to sign good young players too much.
He is going to be a * fine player and if we can sign him then we should.

i agree even though i'm unsure. better to fork out now and take a gamble than wonder 'what if'.

i think it's stupid to loan him him back unless it was a deal clincher. we're having a go on three fronts. we need all the help. Stokes and Hooper can't do it all.

Even at 1.5 million its not a bad price. If he played in the championship he would cost 5 million plus.
