Really impressed by him in this footage. Looks Quick, Powerful & Clinical. Want to see him get more game time now & kick on.

Brendan Rodgers will assess striker Johnny Kenny over the coming days and weeks before making a decision on his short-term Celtic future, with the striker impressing his manager with his performance off the bench against Ross County on Saturday.

Kenny spent the first half of the season on loan at Shamrock Rovers in the League of Ireland, bagging 20 goals in all competitions and gaining experience of European football in the Champions League qualifiers and in the Conference League

The 21-year-old has made an impression in training since returning to Celtic, with Rodgers seeing the benefits of his loan spell, and he is currently mulling over whether to keep him at the club for the remainder of the season or whether to send him out for further game-time on another loan deal.

“I was delighted for Johnny,” Rodgers said

Obviously a young player, came in before, had to go away. And I hadn't seen him before, but coming back in and speaking to the guys, yes, he looks a bit stronger than what he was before.

“The one thing that I love with young players is the enthusiasm. Because with enthusiasm, there's no expectation. They just come in and play. And they come and run. And that's what he gave us when he came into the pitch [on Saturday].

Sometimes the older players, and I would say the same thing to an older player, just as long as you maintain your enthusiasm for the game, then you just go and play. And Johnny did that when he came into the game.

Straight away, his contact, his touch of the ball was good, he was on the move. The last goal, he's there, thereabouts, that creates the chaos in the box. And we finished well.

So he's come in, he's only been in just over a week. We'll continue to monitor him, be around it. And then it's the next decision then. Is he going to stay and be a part, or does he still need more game time on loan?

“But at this moment, I've been really pleased. He showed a wonderful enthusiasm for football and to work and he's done really well. And I can see, 25 yards in, he's a really, really good finisher

    Should keep him here.

As with sinsalo, with the league so far ahead, we can afford to give these guys a proper start at times.

Get him on the bench every game and see if he can come on at the 60mark to make a difference.

Rather see what he's capable of now, then decide if another loan is good

Happy to wait till end of the month to see what happens.
A loan for rest of the season to SPL club could be good for him.

Don’t think a loan is possible now as he’s played for 2 clubs?

We either keep him and use him as third choice or sell. I’d rather keep him tbh, was a good cameo at the weekend and think he could be more than useful this season. You just never know what being in and around the squad for 6 months will do for his development.

    Ah *...forgot about that.
In that case Rodgers must want to keep him in the first team. No point jn development squad games. Spot on the bench is his to lose.

Na, he could play for a 3rd due to the differences in seasons

Players may be registered with a maximum of three clubs during one season.
During this period, the player is only eligible to play official matches for
two clubs. As an exception to this rule, a player moving between two clubs
belonging to associations with overlapping seasons (i.e. start of the season in
summer/autumn as opposed to winter/spring) may be eligible to play in official
matches for a third club during the relevant season, provided he has fully
complied with his contractual obligations towards his previous clubs. Equally,
the provisions relating to the registration periods (article 6) as well as to the
minimum length of a contract (article 18 paragraph 2) must be respected.

In that case then.....a good spl loan would be ideal. Or even league 1 down south

I’d keep him. We’re enough ahead now we can afford to try him out more along with Cummings. We’ll only know how well he’ll do here by playing for us and the end of this season there’ll never be a better chance to impress

Thats what would make sense and then we can make a decision in the summer on what his future is or is not at Celtic.

Agreed. We can afford to take a few more risks now, selection-wise, and we need a third striker anyway. Even with limited appearances he’ll get better experience by staying put. Also, Idah is rank rotten at the moment so I wouldn’t back against Kenny overtaking him in the pecking order if he got a couple of goals.

I hope he comes on and does well and proves me wrong, but I'm a bit perplexed at the clamouring for him, I thought he was just okay at County, nothing more.

Obviously done well in the Conference but aye, I've yet to see anything to suggest he's our level.
