A person with his political background should have been nowhere near Celtic Park, regardless of the fact he's a Celtic fan.

Yet more sensationalised, xenophobic, Daily Mail-esque *.

Reid has never been afraid to make his voice heard. He doesn't take crap and knows how to get places. This is what made him successful in politics and I believe that this was a good quality for a Celtic chairman to have. The way he came out and said 'We will not stand for this any longer' regarding the SFA bigotry and bias was professionally done but put the point across very well. He is an excellent public speaker and has done well in that respect. I'm not a fan of his politics but I think he deserves some credit for his job at Celtic.

I am very interested as to how good the new guy will be. I had a wee look and it seems that Bankier is a very astute businessman. I think he will know how to run a club and sort out a business model off the park which will help improve performances on it. His legal background may also be beneficial and I hope he has a positive impact as a member of the board.

Also people give Brian Quinn a bit of stick but we must remember that the team was very successful when he was in charge. Many trophies, Champions League campaigns and Seville. When he left Rangers won 3 out of 4 titles - no coincidence! I hope the new chairman can emulate this success!

Goodbye Mr Reid, and thank you very much for the way you took on the Scottish Press and media and of course, the SFA.

I didn't know you but I didn't like your politics.

I'm sorry if people find this narrow minded but I am much more interested in what happens at Celtic FC than in Ireland or Afghanistan or anywhere else and to that end I wish you well sir:86:

Very surprised at this news, a new a lot of guys on here disliked him etc etc but when he became our chairmen a watched a clip of him talking about our club and in that video he was talking sense and thought the exact way i thought and celtic supporters should think, he was speaking sense, better than that lying scumbag quinn did before him thats for sure, a dont give a * about his polictical views or the war in iraq that was mentioned a care about whats best for our club and a liked the guy, A thought that he had very good views thats my own opinion.

Why not ? If you know your history and all that jazz.

Pretty * attitude tbh, it doesn't matter what he's done before, i.e. backing illegal wars which has led to the slaughter of 000's, as long as he's a Tim and does his best for Celtic

    * we aere a footbalkl forum about a football team and as thats the case yes what he did for celtic is all that matters within reason i spose. He never killed anyone but every day i hear oh the ira are wonderful and they only killed bad people or the innocents where unlucky to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. People like to preach about reid while they sing up the ra thats a * attitude to me

I hope nothing changes with a new chairman, I don't want loads of cash being injected in, our finances are great, let's keep it that way.

Didn't like him as a politician, liked him as a chairman.
Not keen on this new guy. Don't like the idea of our club being run by a man who's made his living from selling liquor.
    I miss Brian Quinn.
