Lawwell won't come out of this smelling of roses if he heads to Brighton, Brendan has already talked openly about wanting the player in.And quoted as saying "you would like the player in tomorrow" but it's not my business.

The problem now is we might not get him full stop, so we should have just made a decent offer to get it done a couple of weeks ago. By the sounds of it we might well end up having to pay the 4 million anyway.

Was he aye? * was after another sign on fee. Don't kid yourself. We had an offer on the table for ages. "I was about to sign then an offer was accepted" was his own words. Bullshit. He wanted a big payday

If we have to pay the 4m so be it he'd be worth it , weve raked in millions for the past few seasons CL including 8m for armstrong and VVD money.

I would say 2 million and Allan or Christie is more than fair enough. What’s the highest you’d offer, realistically?
FWIW I still think he’s coming here.

So it now looks like there was no interest from Brighton.

Brighton rumour is as Andy Naylor says as old news. It would exceed the Brighton foreign quota. Brighton are looking for an English HGP centre back to replace Goldson.

May have to but I doubt we will and I doubt anybody else will get him. £2m was a fair offer in my view for a player with a year left on his contract. Paying an extra £2m is a vast amount of money. If a player is on £20k a week then that is 2 years salary for a player.

The whole 4 million thing is based on Broony. * Petrie

If we want him we’ll buy after the qualifiers, hopefully Hibs make it through but it’s highly unlikely so they won’t sell their best player.

In an English club offers 4 million plus in the interim then fair play, I’d like to see Hibs get a good bit of money as Lennon’s very shrewd in the market.

I know it's easier with hindsight but I reckon if we had offered 2.5/3 million and thrown in Christie I reckon we would have had this done by now. IF BR has said he sees him as becoming a long term player and not just a squad player I would have paid the 4. At the time Broony signed people questioned the wisdom of paying that, looking back it was cheap. We have a decent relationship with Hibs, from what I understand, so trying to save a few hundred grand is not worth placing that at risk imo either.

I have had a similar exchange with Dev in the past about Ledley, Dev said his source/how he knew. While I'm not totally convinced, what I would say is if pretty much anyone else said what he, Dev, said I would have told them they were talking * and Ledley was indeed at it but I do believe Dev believes what he is saying, if this makes sense.

I'm fine with how we are playing this.

I would of done without the 250k increments, but as said above, he aint worth what we paid for Ntcham in his final contractual year!

We should just offer them 3 or 4 players not in our first team and no money. Sell Christie and Allan, loan Johnston and sell someone else... Maybe give them compper

New to the Forum , Hi everyone . Are Hibs trying t force Celtic into signing JM by hinting Brighton are interested ? Or are Celtic doing the right thing by waiting until the last minute possible before buying

Firstly Welcome to the mad hoose.

Celtic know the boy is a celtic fan and they can wait until 1st December and sign him for free.

Lawwell also knows the English window closes next Thursday giving Celtic 3 more weeks to get their deals done and narrows the market.

For me Celtic are well within their rights to do this. Hibs need to give 33% of any fee received to St Mirren as part of the deal that took him to hibs a few years back.
