See instead of “the cronyism that cost us the 10”.

Shouldn’t it be “the cronyism that won us 9 in a row and a quadruple treble”

We became utterly obsessed with the 10 that it sometimes feels like winning 9 isn’t a massive achievement for some people.

Haha I was waiting on that.

You literally started one of your rants about him with “seriously though”

    Just a joke but eh?

Agreed, with all managers including BR & Ange all rating him highly! He obviously brings a lot

    Well, no.

Rodgers coming in was the biggest part of our most successful period. He was the opposite of a crony, allegedly wouldn’t even speak to Lawwell and brought his own team.

When we went back to cronyism in hiring Lennon without even looking at other candidates it left us a complete shambles.

Astonished at not only the severity but also the longevity of the utter negativity some people in this part of the forum hold. Quite worrying.

Rodgers came in when we already had 5 titles mate, he definitely wasn’t the biggest part of 9 in a row.

The quote was 9 in a row and quadruple treble. There’s not a quadruple treble or invincible treble without him. Biggest in this context clearly isn’t a reference to quantity of titles..

But either way it’s a strange point to pick up on. In the 9IAR run Rodgers clearly stands out and one of the defining characteristics was the complete rejection of cronyism.

Lennon’s appointment in the showers without due dilligence was a return to cronyism and control. We all know what happened 18 months later.

Absolutely true with the Quadruple Treble, but the 9 in a row can’t be laid at his door. He was a part of it. We won 7 of them without him as a manager.

But, Rodgers completely rejected cronyism and Kennedy was part of his staff, so cronyism can’t be labled at him then surely?

Was speaking to a few guys during the week who are very much active in the top league of Scottish football. Asked specifically about Kennedy:

All of them to a T said he is a quality, quality coach who is very highly rated, and to quote one of them:

"Don't listen to the pish wrote about him, he's top drawer!"

Pretty obvious to me that mate, we aren’t in a habit of throwing away money for a jolly. And every single player that’s worked with him say the same thing. * are mental about him, had people in her saying Ajer was paid by Lawwell when he done an interview down south to praise Kennedy :56:

Given the amount of stick he's taken without foundation, that's pleasing to read.

    I don't doubt he's a good coach..

I was disgusted with his antics and lack of help towards Lennon last year though. Numerous time's the camera would pan in to the clueless Lennon looking for some help, only to see Kennedy shrugging his shoulders or saying fuckall..

I was even more disgusted when he was interim manager and changed fuckall when the league was long gone..

    This.

No quadruple treble without him. And aye we had won 5 titles before him but that was with no huns in the league for most of it. Which, as much as some people like to argue against it, meant we had zero challenge in the league.

Aye, some of it is mental and obviously last season emotions were through the roof.

I myself have slaughtered Kennedy, but if folk who are far more knowledgable and active in football than I am are telling me about his quality, then who am I to judge?

And in that time we advanced in Europe pretty well. Until again, the board * us.

Brought in the best centre back in the world currently in that period as well, don’t think we done too bad, despite people wanting to downplay what we done with no Huns for some reason.

First ever Champions League away win and all, * loved that.

On that note, I was in the same camp - thought it was his time to change it - which he DID in his 2nd game, then reverted back to Lennon's pish. On one hand, you could say he was just carrying on the team and wasn't his place to make mass changes, and on another you could say he was playing the strongest team (on paper) so that he could hav used that as a reference point if he were having to go for a job interview had he been sacked.

To the first point, I said it at the time early on last season I could see the negative body language between Kennedy and Lennon - can't remember which game it was but at one point when we were being beaten the camera panned to the dugout and it looked like he was asking Kennedy something about the game and Kennedy literally just shrugged without even looking at him.

Personally, I reckon reading between the lines and knowing fine well there was disharmony in the squad, I wouldn't have been surprised if Kennedy were giving advice to Lennon on games and it was being disregarded, so ended up to the point it was like "well what's the * point in asking me now?"

He won a few titles (against Aberdeen and a huns team in freefall behind the scenes) and had one good European campaign. That aside, the football was turgid, his cup record was an embarrassment, and for every good singing he signed another 2 or 3 utter duds.

It's not "wanting to downplay what we done with no Huns for some reason". It's just the reality of the situation. The next best team in the league was Aberdeen, led by the likes of Jonny Hayes, Josh Magennis and Niall McGinn. Winning the league was a guarantee before a ball was kicked.
