On our budget, he may be right. :54:

Still, he's young. Maybe he can improve over the next couple of years. I mean it's not like he needs to become Iniesta or something; he just needs to improve his link-up play to a minimally acceptable level that doesn't * all our moves up and, with his goal threat (which he definitely has), he'll be a pretty good striker. It's feasible.

How much would we spend ? We keep buying strikers for about 2 million every year and there all pish

Balde, pukki , scepovic. To name a few

So based on that no I don't think we will do better than Leigh griffiths no

None of the strikers here at the moment are good enough.

Pukki would fit Deila like a glove. I honestly think he was better than any of our current strikers. He just seemed * at the time because we were comparing him with Hooper.

    And John Guidetti is?

Just because he doesn't have a trendy foreign name or post pictures of his new snapback or high top trainers doesn't mean he isn't good.

Ability wise, there is not much between Guidetti and Griffiths and right now, Griffiths is the better player.

    Just accept it, ffs.

A month's good form for Griffiths and suddenly we can't do any better ?

People are going on about the man love for Guidetti but what about these hard ons for Griffiths..a player who 3 months ago many of his supporter's I bet wouldn't have batted an eyelid if he was sold.

    * me :smiley-laughing002:

time for a reality check . Griffiths has worked hard to get himself in the team and looks pretty useful . People on here are overhyping him like nothing i have ever seen . Absolutely wildly over rated after a handful of decent games and a few goals. If we want to take this team forward , and make a mark in Europe , we are going to need a far better and more clinical striker than leigh griffiths .

Even as a troll, don't be such an idiot. You want everybody to "accept" that Griffiths is some top quality striker, which he just isn't. Don't try and convince yourself "it's because he's a local boy, if he was a continental import people would love him!", that doesn't work. Griffiths is the player he is and plays the style he does because he's from Scotland. How many strikers developed in Scotland, or who are Scottish, have performed brilliantly in Europe over the last 15 years? Who? Absolute * all. It's simply proven that on the big stage of European football, they haven't stepped up.

I'm not totally against starting Griffiths vs Inter. But your insistence that people state he's better than Guidetti, and the ludicrous backwards thinking notion of "local boy doesn't get the credit he deserves!" really bothers me. In a big European game, I'd rather we start John Guidetti. He's still our top goalscorer, and had proven it isn't only the British leagues where he can score- against European opposition, you need something different whether anybody likes it or not.

If Griffiths does start, it's not a disaster and I won't despair. But for those reasons, I'd rather we start Guidetti. Stop pretending not to understand that.

To say that Griffiths isn't good because he is Scottish is pretty ludicrous and downright strange.

And I'm not trying to make everyone accept he's a top quality player. I'm trying to make everyone accept that Guidetti isn't a top quality player. How many more games without a goal is it going to take before people realise he isn't actually that good? Oh but as long as he keeps rapping over Virgil's beatboxing and saying he'll put 3 away against the Huns, we'll still think he's class.

    http://hereisthecity.com/en-gb/2015/02/18/celtic-blow-as-john-guidetti-admits-family-would-be-happy-with-a/?

Celtic striker John Guidetti has admitted he would be open to a move away from the club to play in Serie A.

Guidetti is currently on loan from Manchester City but is set to become a free agent at the end of the season and is a highly coveted talent despite his recent goal drought.

The Swedish international has been quoted by Italian website Tuttomercatoweb, responding to questions over his future:

"At the end of the season I will be free, with no contract. But now I'm a Celtic player, it is impossible to say now where I'll end. Lazio? I never got an offer but my relatives would be happy. Some are still living in Italy."

Celtic have made clear they are interested in doing a deal for the striker, but it is becoming clear he wants to weigh up his options.

Boss Ronny Deila was quoted by The BBC last month stating: "We've been speaking for a long time but he's decided he wants to wait to see what his options are.

"It will be March or April, maybe longer, so there won't be any final decision this month. But we know we have him until the end of the season."

French side Marseille have been credited with interest by the Daily Record, while The Scotsman has previously linked Southampton with making a move, in part due to Ronald Koeman's involvement having previously managed Guidetti at Feyenoord.

Despite a prolific start for Celtic, Guidetti's recent lack of goals has seen his place come under threat from Leigh Griffiths and new signing Gary Mackay-Steven.

The same could be said about Guidetti to be fair, and I was guilty of doing so. Guidetti had a handful of decent games, scored a few goals, and has since gone off the boil. I think the fans did overrate him, that's not to say I don't rate him at all, because I would still love to see us sign him, but right now, it looks like a lot of fans, myself included, got slightly carried away.

I think it is more simple, if Guidetti does not play, then we can't sing his song, albeit it is more of a hun wind up song!!!!!:56:If Griffiths starts I and Commons doesn't I am going to the bookies for him to be 1st scorer for us tonight!

I think it's a damned if you do, damned if you don't scenario. Both are capable of doing something in this game. I just think if Inter are allowed time to knock the ball around and get the ball to the danger players we'll have real problems. Maybe they have less time to make those decisions, if Griffiths is defending from the front. Maybe it won't matter, you just can't predict how these games are gonna go.
